While other rational people are saying it's a sign Knies is in fact a Human being.

This is honestly getting way out of hand

Knies already stated he wants to go back for DEVELOPMENT

It makes sense as why ruin it rushing him to the NHL/AHL

With the Leafs rn he would be on the 4th line. You think thats gonna help him....NO

Let him complete his second year then come over.

As that will give him a better chance for success

He's one year out playing for the University of Minnesota. If it were true he doesn't want to sign with Toronto. All he has to do is finish his 4 years with Minnesota become a free agent and he can sign anywhere he chooses.

Or how about signing the contract hinges on bonuses.

The Leafs have been using a no bonus structure to speed up a player's path to the NHL. They delay could be an agent trying to get the best deal for his prospect.

If Knies doesn’t sign and goes back to school I’ll be happy to watch him and Cooley light it up.

Anyone thinking he doesn’t sign with the Leafs is out to lunch.

Of course that is true for any NCAA player.

Yup, That's one of the perks they get, if they're drafted by a team that they really don't want to play for. They can finish their 4 year degree and become a UFA and sign elsewhere.

The same Friedman who has said Bertuzzi is going to be traded at the last 3 TDLs?

He just finished his freshman season. Why is there such a rush to sign him? Let him develop. Beyond that he hasn’t increased his value from late 2nd to mid 1st in one season.

A forget the years a drafted junior player has to wait to become a UFA, but they have UFA rights too. We just hear more about NCAA players. Most young men in their situation want to turn pro, get that pay cheque, and start burning of ELC year so they can stop getting big money as a RFA. The other reason not to sign in immediately, is getting a year more of university instead of playing for 80,000 dollars as an AHL player. Gotta say though, the Leafs and have some other NHL teams that have AHL teams in their NHL cities is an attractive place to play as AHLer..

He probably has a smart advisor that knows that he isn’t NHL ready, and being in NCAA is a way better lifestyle than being in the AHL.

He will easily go for a first, the demand is insanely high for him (top 10 redraft), especially during the trade deadline. Teams were even asking for Knies for rentals (Lindholm) and look at what the Wild got for McBain
