It’s going to disappear quickly once Stutzle, Pinto and Zub get contracts the year after

In that year they expire Travis and Del Z are off the books which is even better. Team is looking bright

White has solid trade value you shouldn’t buy him out.

I have no clue. He’s either on the 3rd line in Ottawa or top line centre in the AHL. Good problem to have I guess

if teams try and leverage him being overpaid to get the sens to add an asset id buy him out instead, but i think he ends up getting traded for a mid-round pick like a 4th or something

Id rather sit on white than buy him out.

Hes overpaid by 1.5M, but OTT isnt anywhere near 1.5M away from the cap.

As Zaitsev, MDZ, Hamonic etc come off the books, Whites contract wont be a problem.

For sure, I think he is going to come fast, with a gritty edge to his game with the skill. Gm may slow him down a little with line In front of him and play 20 minutes a night in ahl.

its more that he just doesnt have a place on the team outside of the 4th line imo. at RW Joseph, Batherson, Brown > White: at C Norris, Stutzle, Pinto> White. Not that they cant fit him in but no sense in having him on the 4th line

He’s not really overpaid for a 3rd line center. Maybe Seattle makes sense as a trade partner. Could also see Boston and Minnesota being interested. Though it’s harder for Minnesota with their self-inflicted salary cap issues.

Also don’t take this wrong way but I could totally see Dorian give up a third to get rid of White after trading a third for Hamonic lmao

id honestly give him the benefit of the doubt on that one, Hamonic has been light years better than some of the players we've iced the past few years and the ask was a 4th round pick which the sens didnt have. he may dump him if hes desperate, but i think theres probably going to be enough interest he wont have to

I like these lines in that scenario but I think Stutzle needs to be at Center to really breakout

If the Sens retain 1.25 to bring his AAV to 3.5, then yes he'd have value but with his inflated AAV, I don't think he'd have much. It would have to be a hockey trade like Voracek - Atkinson last summer

I think armchair GM’s sometimes undervalue players because we are frustrated with their performance. I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve seen listed as buyout candidates that won’t be.

I really like Pinto on the second line. Timmy and Shane can take draws from different sides as I believe one is a righty and the other shoots left.
Pinto looked sooo good at the beginning of this year.

BTW - What are you doing with Brannstrom next year?

Yeah, but I am of the opinion that we cant afford to pay a 30yo CBrown >5MM. I think OTT should move on From CBrown this season if we land Giroux or can parle the CBrown return into Fiala/Boeser

As a fan you want them gone, but it’s not necessarily fair to the player. A lot of guys just aren’t put in a position to succeed. If the Isles could’ve gotten White from the senators in the Pageau deal because he’s overpaid they would’ve done it. Of course that would have to work cap wise but you get my point.

im also in agreement on brown, but if they bring in any other RW whether thats fiala, boeser or giroux its still the same situation at RW where hes 4th on the depth chart. if they move on from brown and bring in a top 6 LW instead whitey can definitely stick around at 3rw but thats kind of the only situation where I see him being around past this year

Fiala plays both wings IIRC, and Giroux has a history of playing LW if you look back 2 years but I get what youre saying.

You might also be counting chickens before the hatch with high expectations on Joseph

if they play LW im all over it, and for joseph i just think he at worst can play 3RW but will likely be cheaper than white so id give him the nod
