I had previously posted the trade as a 2022 1st and Liljegren, but after Chiarot's huge deal I think the price has gone up. I'm also pretty sure the Devils want to keep Severson, so this would have to have been Toronto making an offer they couldn't refuse.

I don't think Severson is even an upgrade over Lily - and if he is it would be a mild upgrade for just this season. Liljegren is younger and will be better by next season plus we're giving up picks

He’s finally breaking out, him and Keller are absolutely dynamic together pushing each other to PPG and signed to an affordable deal. His worth to Arizona is more than anything a trade can bring back right now unless it’s a massive overpay

Where has Vesey been linked to NSH?

Even if there's no longer any animosity between the two parties, I don't see where Vesey fits with the Preds. It doesn't make sense for them to add a bottom six winger this year (a center maybe, but they aren't hurting for bottom half of the roster wingers). Vesey isn't good enough to take a job from anyone currently in NSH's lineup. A 3rd is kind of a lot to pay for someone to keep Ben Harpur company in the press box for a couple months.

Reasonable, but Severson has proven he can play first pair minutes and matchups, whereas Liljegren has had depth minutes. Additionally, this is a win-now deal by a team in its window, picks be damned. Do you do it if it's two 2nds?



Neither player will be a Coyote if and when the team is ever good again. You want Bedard, Michkov, Fantilli? You get rid of your PPG players, maybe keep Keller. You want to play in an NCAA stadium? You take Johnsson, who has a salary of 750k next year.

Schmaltz is having a career year, sure. At age 26. He doesn't fit the window for when you guys will compete for playoff spots. You absolutely should be cleaning house and starting a clean slate, around Keller and whoever you draft this year.

In fairness, NSH did get the 3rd they used to draft him back from BUF. Which they used on Pitlick, who they lost for nothing.
