Devils fans are the Blackwood rumors true

Description
Word on the street is Blackwood is asking for a trade. I still think a Blackwood/Skinner tandem is risky, but worth a half a season trail to see how it goes. If not working out either one would be easy to trade.
My theory is the Oilers need to add some legit centre depth & grit in the bottom 6. Lets stop denying that Draisaitl needs to be on his own line and just play him and Mcdavid together permanently! Nuge plays much better as a Centre and with a bigger grittier guy like Kane on his wing the 2nd line would be lethal as well.

It can be to any team really, just picked Buffalo because they have alot of cap space and also a bit of a question mark with the goal tending. A higher pick or different prospect can also be added.

I think all UFAs are underpaid and the offers are too much in EDM's favor. They rid themselves of $10M+ worth of cap without having to compensate at all, which is not realistic.

I don't think there's anything to Blackwood asking for a trade.
It's just probably Seravalli trying to draw attention to himself and his content as these past weeks (and the upcoming ones) have been so quiet, no moves of any substance are being done.
Blackwood switched representation a few days ago so there's that angle for Seravalli to drum up.

I wouldn't want Devils to trade Blackwood anyway.
Think he's gonna develop into a top 20 starter in the short-term.
Just gotta get healthy and find someone competent and healthy to share the net with.
If Devils could sign one of Anton Forsberg, Husso, Francouz, Kuemper, Holtby or Campbell to share goalie duties with Blackwood, I'd think they'd have a top 10 tandem in the league by next season.

no just some general chatter ive seen on Twitter the last couple of days. No clue if there is anything substantial to back up the speculation. Hence the title of this thread.

Blackwood is a HUGE red flag. From LBI issues to quality of play over a sustained period of time, nothing suggests that blackwood would be the right add to make the oilers a better club. Skinner is locked as the BU next year and depending on if they deal away guys like Foegele, Kass and Barrie by the start of FA, they could be big fish hunting for a #1 option. I can't imagine the new GM will be making the same mistake holland made last yr (not fully committing to signing a #1G)

If Blackwood is "risky" (your word), why are you giving up effectively TWO 1st round picks for him?

Eller trade is ok but I’d rather not get Foegele back. DC still likely hasn’t forgiven him for the cheap shot he pulled in Oshie in 2019 andId rather not take on his contract anyway, so we have more space for the next year/two years.

Blackwood is in the doghouse with our GM. He came into this season unprepared and wasn’t 100% healthy. And played for a while in pain and didn’t tell anyone. With Crawford retired, Bernier hurt, it put us in a bad spot in net.

(I do not think the Covid thing was related or an issue).

It’s one of those things where fans will be much more forgiving than a front office will be.

When healthy and playing, he is a very good goaltender. But he needs to straighten himself out first. Hopefully he will grow from this, gain a little maturity, and come into next season prepared.

I have not heard of him ever requesting a trade, but I would not be surprised if he does request a trade in future. Nor would I be shocked if our GM (Fitzgerald) looks at moving him in off-season. There some things that need to be ironed out there.

As for trade - I am sure they would look to acquire another goalie with Bernier possibly on IR into next season. I don’t think Yamamoto would be very appealing and Fitzgerald has said he is looking for young players instead of picks.

Fair enough. Any interest in Yamamoto for Eller??

I'd be fine with that. Yamo could move to 3LW and McMichael would be able to get an open slot as the 3C. Only problem is payment for Yamo but I think WSH could make it work. Other option from DC's standpoint would be Eller for picks in the offseason

Eller for picks could be doable, im sure there would be another trade out there for yamo and a couple of other guys the oilers need to unlaod to make the cap work. Any chance the caps could retain a $mil of salary since he doesnt have alot of term left??

depends on how much Vanecek and Samsonov are asking for. As long as both aren't asking for the moon, I think WSH could retain some salary but MacLellan doesn't seem to be fond of retaining so it might have to be another team that retains.

Seravalli put him on his trade board for no reason and that's somehow turned into "Blackwood was requested a trade", because twitter.

Coupled with him changing agents and the Devils going "back to the drawing board" when it comes to goaltending, some people think there's a chance of him being moved.

If he is, it won't be for picks, that's for sure.

My hunch is that it would be Blackwood+ for better goaltender to team that is looking to reduce cap

Yeah I finally saw it. Whats with Seravelli? He's usually solid. First the PK contract termination (which only hurts devs in negotiations with other teams) now this. It may be the case but mad because he came in unprepared. Is that the vax thing? I dont know the details to his heel surgery (unless Devs were completely in the dark) and it only came up when his performance blew! I am not sure what he has done square with moving him (I think hes dumb but not enough to be move). I think its more of a slow TDL news cycle. With starting goaltending we are in a different place for sure, but a healthy MB is going to be fun. I want Husso btw as a 1b tender!

Griffith isn’t a “prospect”
He’s a career AHLer at this point

And i really don’t see anyone actually “wanting” Smith,
so u probably would have to give up a decent pick to get someone like Buffalo to take him off your hands
Hard to say what that pick would have to be….
