Description
- With Flyers losing Giroux more than likely, and Frost not quite performing to his potential so far maybe there is a deal made for the flyers to revamp and get a top winger in Fiala. Gets Fiala to a place where he can be a top line winger. Fiala wasn't going to be able to be resigned by the Wild considering his production and the Wild's cap situation especially after extending Greenway.
- Frost would be a nice little piece that could have high upside. Might just need a change of scenery. Won't cost much for the time being until he proves his worth in the league.
- Goligoski and Bjugstad take hometown discount to comeback. (there were rumblings when Goligoski signed last summer that this was already being talked about)
- Sturm gets well deserved extension (might demand more)
- Rossi, Beckman make the squad out of camp, helps keep cap down since they are obviously on their rookie contracts.
- Addison makes squad as 7th Dman
- Kaapo might demand more money but just put 1.5 for a good starting point imo

It's a good thought on the Fiala trade, which the cap strapped Wild might have to do. The Flyers might be front runners on signing UFA Flames Gaudreau though

I think Guerin is just going to float Dumba and Fiala's name out there and whoever offers the better return goes. I also think Goligoski isn't getting re-signed if that wink wink deal that was discussed last summer was a thing then wouldn't the Wild have already re-signed him?

That Philly trade doesn't happen unless that 3rd is upgraded to a 1st. It's fine if it's their 23' 1st.

Bottom line, a 1st needs to be included.

For sure, but I think they are probably getting the longer-term guys (Merrill, Greenway both 3 yr deals recently) locked in first and then they will talk. I'm sure they're starting to talk to Kaapo's camp as well as Sturm's. Obviously, it's always possible Goligoski doesn't resign, I just don't think he really wants to go anywhere else at this point in his career since he's from MN. Goligoski could also very well be asking for more than 2 mil.

If Frost has the value equal to a late 1st/early 2nd then the trade is right on par with what Reinhart got last summer.

Life of a RFA backup/tandem goalie with 65 (maybe) starts under his belt. They get signed for cheap bridge deals. If he lights it up in the Playoffs then he'll get a bigger raise.

If you think he’s kidding you, a) are completely undervaluing Fiala AND, b) completely overvaluing Frost!

I mixed up. I always just get flamed for overvaluing guys so I put a 3rd which I thought was reasonable. I also put only a 3rd because of what Fiala will demand cap-wise, being that it will be way higher than Frost's but Giroux is more than likely coming off the books so there will be that room. So, a 1st or 2nd is probably more appropriate. I just mixed up in my response to him I thought he meant to add a 1st with Fiala.

Ummmm…I would demand a 1st with Frost. And I would happily walk away if dumbarse Fletcher didn’t accept!

PLD signed an extension and was moved very soon after. Greenway could be worth a surprising amount in the a trade and helps fix the salary cap issue

PLD had issues with the coach. Guerin isn't going to trade someone right after he extends them like this. Hes a big part of a line who has been dynamite all year.

How many players haven’t been moved after demanding a trade? And PLD had issues with Torts well before his extension and had voiced them.

Greenway is far from immovable or untouchable and yes, that line has been great all year when healthy. It was last year too. However, it’s been dynamite both with and without him. He wasn’t even playing on it for a solid portion of the season in the beginning. Greenway was even dropped down to the 4th at one point because he’s not extremely consistent or effective.

Oh, and it’s not as if his spot is solidified due to a lack of NHL ready talent. Beckman is knocking on the big boy’s club’s door for next season. Fiala is the far more effective, explosive, high upside player, who, if he doesn’t want the world on an extension, should absolutely take priority over Greenway.

Dumba is another option the team could consider moving in order to fit under the cap if necessary. He was just named as alternate captain this past offseason. Zuccarello may be another option, he’s much better than Greenway, has his own line and chemistry with Kirill that GMBG won’t wanna break up

The team “logically” pigeon holing 22 as the odd man out is not smart. Because going of what “makes sense” or how you “don’t wanna break a line up” in terms of moving guys is one way to make the team worse. If Guerin wants to remain competitive, both now and in the future, moving Kevin isn’t the right move unless you get a king’s ransom for him which is extremely unlikely, even if Guerin is a great GM.

- to your first comment about PLD, he played 5 games after he signed his deal and had atrocious issues with Torts yes. PLD also was an RFA, Greener is not and was a UFA. A 3x3 for Greenway is a pretty nice deal for the wild. I do think that Fiala now heating up since Boldy has been in the lineup is going to push Guerin's envelope to try to free up space to retain Fiala. The one thing working in the Wild's favor with Fiala is that he is also an RFA. I would probably guess if he's asking for as much as he did last year that it will go to arbitration again.

- Yes, while I agree that Greenway is not even near immovable or untouchable, I do believe he has solidified himself as a big role on this team. I'm guessing he is well-liked throughout the locker room, and he has developed and adopted his new true Power forward game this year. This deal is a cap-friendly deal and wouldn't be hard to move if the situation arose. I just don't see Guerin moving him but I could be wrong.

- For Beckman, yes he is knocking on the door and that is very exciting. Maybe that means we don't bring back Bjugstad. Beckman could definitely slide into that role to ease into the show. Obviously, Fiala is a more explosive offensive player than Greenway. They aren't even comparable. They play 2 totally different roles. If you think so highly of Beckman I also don't see why he couldn't work his way up to that 2nd line wing scoring role. Kid loves to fire the puck just like Fiala. Yes, fiala is a way better playmaker and has more tools and skills in his bag but it's an idea.

- Dumba definitely needs to be an option to look at to move. Going to be tougher with his NTC but if we get him to waive it, could help. I'm starting to think more and more that we won't be bringing back Goligoski sadly unless he takes a significant, significant pay cut since Addison needs to be on the big club next year. I also think that we will listen to offers for Talbot, and sign a cheaper veteran to back up Kaapo next year to bridge for Wallstedt. I think Guerin needs to look to move Gaudreau too, I know he's cheap but like you said Beckman is waiting and obviously Rossi and I would like to believe Sturm will hopefully be resigned soon.

- It's not really pigeon holing, I do believe he'll be back, maybe only on a 1 yr due to arb like I said earlier. But hopefully a longer-term situation. Or maybe a deal to get over these next couple of years till we are past the more severe years of Suter/Parise buyouts.

- This was just an idea of what I think it could possibly look like. If Guerin gets a favorable deal for Fiala I think he has to take it.
