Rule: No calling up players with 0 NHL experience

Also, keep in mind that although I'm going off of rumors, all rumors are just speculation rather than fact

The Habs are in need of a rebuild, the good news? They have lots of assets to play with.

Let's begin with the RFA's. All can be bridged but one of them has generated significant interest from teams. Artturi Lehkonen. Rumors say he could fetch a first-round pick, I'm unsure he gets that much but New York is heavily pursuing him so I'll make a package worth the same as a first-round pick.

Next up, the goalie logjam, Montreal has 4 NHL goalies, granted Price hasn't played for a while and his contract might make it difficult to trade. However, Jake Allen is highly valued by teams. He won't fetch a first but a desperate team will definitely cough up a second for him... lets say Edmonton (though there are a few other teams they might go for)

Next up, Tyler Toffoli is an asset who could fetch a strong return. A team linked to him? Ottawa, Melnyk loves his underpaid players and will definitely get his puppet GM to acquire him, while many people want a first-round pick for Toffoli, I think that a top prospect and a second is a better return for him

Jeff Petry is having a down year but could still fetch a first-round pick, Boston has been linked to him as their d-core consists of 3 defencemen and some pylons. Montreal would have to take on one of those contracts but they can still squeeze a first for Petry

Now the big move, Minnesota needs an LTIR contract to help pay for the upcoming offseason. Additionally, Jake Evans is a guy with a lot of trade value. I think that these two could fetch a decent prospect, and first-rounder to help the Wild's cap situation (a-la Brent Seabrook contract being traded to Tampa)

I could dismantle further but I feel Montreal will want to hold onto some assets until the deadline and let their value increase. Overall, this is a solid start to a rebuild

This is beyond horrible for Minnesota. No easily! Minnesota isn't trading a 1st round pick or Adam Beckman to take on ltir contract. like no chance. Jake Evans is nothing

There is No way you will get that for Petry as he is playing now.

Shae Weber will only get traded to Nashville so that the Predators save his SALARY on the CAP. If he retires in Montreal, the Predators are on the hook for his Cap on the remainder of the contract

I am good with the Lehkonen trade.

No to Tofolli Trade

We need Jake Allen because Price`s career might be over due to his knee injury

Why do the Oilers trade a 2nd for Jake "similar statistics to Mikko Koskinen" Allen?

I think you're missing the point of Tampa trading for Seabrook. They took him as a favor to Chicago for them taking Tyler Johnson off their hands (along with a 2nd). Chicago is cleared of the cash they owe him and he doesn't really hurt Tampa since he'll be on LTIR and their owner clearly doesn't mind spending money since they have 2 Cups to show for their roster. Jake Evans isn't incentive to take Weber's salary off Montreal's hands while giving them a 1st and a solid prospect.

If you switch that pick around in the boston trade (obviously not this years pick, but maybe next years) that could get it done. This is a joke though. Hey habs fans, we allll know why every ACGM has petry being moved in it.

Also boston has never been linked to him (why would they be going after a 34 year old guy with four years at 6.25 for their 3RD?). Fetching a first round pick is just a fantasy. Getting rid of him by sending a first round pick off with him is realism.

At least they are starting to realize his value. A few weeks ago it was a 1st and prospect. Then just a 1st, and now a 2nd..

If the end of the offseason arrives and Holland hasn’t been able to land an actual upgrade, I’d consider moving a 3rd or 4th for Allen

But I agree. Allen is not a starter… oilers aren’t interested

Neither Jeff Petry nor Jake Evans plus an LTIR list guy gets a first-round draft pick.

Toffoli is turns 30 in April and is UFA in two years, which means we'd have him for next years playoffs and then have to move him at the 2024 trade deadline because we won't want to give a multi year deal to a guy who is already declining. So.... NAHHHH... Ottawa should probably just not do that.

The LTIR will help them pay for Fiala, Greenway, and Khakonen. If they hadn't bought out Suter and Parise then it wouldn't be necessary

Minnesota needs LTIR. They have nearly 13 million in buyout cap. LTIR might be a way to navigate that treachary

Any comparable situation where a guy got moved for value? If you can find one I’ll be impressed.

LTIR doesn't give them more cap. It allows them to exceed the cap by the amount that player makes but they still have that player's cap on their books. It does prevent them from accruing daily cap however so that's bad.
