Edmonton will lose any mcdavid trade (they should not trade him)

But the 1st overall pick in 2022 (if that's what the pick is) and the 1st overall pick of 2021 (Power) is a darn good base of a trade that not many can beat

Add Cozens and Dahlin to the McDavid deal and Holland still says no, Tampa passes on the Cernak deal he's going nowhere. And the Chychrun trade is easily beaten by most NHL teams.

Ignoring the fact that all of these deals heavily favor Buffalo, when did Buffalo become his home?

These takes are always hilarious to me. "add the entire team, prospect pool, and all 100 fans that attended todays game and holland still says no" why would buffalo make that trade. Mcdavid proving with the oilers that you need more than two superstars to win in the league.

I promise I'm not trying to a diack here, but if McDavid decides to leave EDM, you really think he wants to go from one of the most poorly run organizations to the other most poorly run organization?

That's an underpay on Cernak however fair market value doesn't pry TB's best player at it weakest position for forwards TB turns out like they are a factory. The conversation is short and sweet KA hey want says above JBB NO click

Seriously I'd love to understand why anyone would think TB would say yes ? Cernak is 1 of only 3 NHL ready RD signed next year, He's their best by far,on a great contract ,and TB already has more forwards than roster spots . He is also worth more to TB than what most would consider market value any trade for Cernak here would start with Jokiharju

Yes he is, Which makes this even more funny. I guess because Buffalo is close to Toronto. This dude calls McDavid a home town kid.

Funny the last i knew, Connor McDavid was from Toronto not Buffalo. So it's hardly what i'd call a homecoming.

I agree with your first statement but let's think about this for a second. Why would the Oilers trade McDavid? There is only 1 possible reason and it's because he wants out. He has a NMC, does anyone honestly think Buffalo of all places would be a place he would waive to go to?

So it doesn't matter what the offer is.

Which brings me back around to agreeing with you about the Oilers losing the trade. He's going to be okay with going to maybe 3-5 teams. They have to be contenders and have a core close to his age. He won't go to a team like Washington which has an aging core. So really there are only a handful of teams he'd likely agree to go to. My guess, the Rangers, Colorado, Toronto, Carolina and maybe Florida.

Who of those teams have the assets to make a serious run? Would they be willing to part with said assets to get McDavid and do they have the space.

Of those teams I think TO and the Rangers have the best shot but if it's only a 2 team race, the return is going to be much much lower than people on here want to admit. If Edmonton could get Matthews and a 2nd that may be by far the best package available and I don't even think they would have to offer up Matthews. 12.5 million is extremely hard to make work.

If Edmonton is trading McDavid it's because he wants out. And if that's the case he will dictate where he goes because he has a NMC. It wouldn't be a 30 team bidding war. It would be a 3-5 team bidding war of all contenders.

I would bet a sizable sum that this is better than what McDavid is actually traded for if he's traded.

Which makes this even more laugh because if McDavid wants out of Edmonton, The very last team he's going to is the 4th worst Buffalo team.

If mcdavid was going to a team, buffalo is probably last on his list. And very few teams have the assets to acquire a generational talent like mcdavid. Of the few that can, what they would give up would arguably make them worst.

I see two viable outcomes with his career.
1.) He retires with Edmonton and likely never wins a cup.
2.) Maybe after his next 8 year deal he hits FA and looks for a Pavelski contract on a cup contender.

McDavid’s NMC doesn’t kick in till July1
But i agree…. this trade doesn’t get it done
*unless*
the 2022 1st we are sending them is 1st overall
Then it’s a convo…. Maybe

@Sabrebluehs,
Dude…. I’m a Sabres fan, but these trades are rough

Not enough for McDavid- that wouldn’t even have been enough for Eichel. If that draft pick is 1oa, then it MIGHT get EDM interested…. but it’s still not enough imo

Tampa says no, and it’s an easy no for them
They aren’t gonna downgrade from Cernak to Bryson for “futures” (a prospect & pick) when they’re trying to win NOW

The Chychrun trade might be the worst though
It’s gonna take a heck of a lot more than Olofsson & a late 2nd to get him…. I don’t even think that gets the convo started
It’s pretty bad dude, & it’ll get beat easily

FINALLY…. McDavid isn’t from Buffalo, this isn’t his “home”

Edmonton will not consider any trade unless McDavid is demanding one which he won't do until he has control over where he goes.

So you’re talking to the wrong guy here
