This seems like an overpay for the Wings, but I think you're pretty close. I'm not sure what Arizona thinks of Zadina, since they passed on him to take Barrett Hayton.

I think people are making JK’s last season the norm but he doesn’t have a consistent track record so there’s risk. There’s also an injury history there that no one talks about. There’s also an inflated SH% which doesn’t account for the total point influx but oiSH% was 30% higher than his career average.

Yeah, it was Chayka too, so who knows what they think meow. I hope the Wings don't try to force anything just yet. Edvinsson looks pretty legit, and they have some serviceable options in free agency.

i just don't think these are the right pieces. no first round pick, and just a middle six wing prospect and a solid RD who's got fewer years of term than chychrun and won't be on the team when arizona is actually competing. why would arizona take that?

Well if the rumors are to be believed, ARI will decline this one. Quite easily.

As far as rumors go Chychrun offer will most likely beat the Eichel one in terms of value. Does it make sense? No. But the fact is that Eichel wasn't dealt with even close to his max value due to many question marks around his health (and contract, as not many teams could've taken his full $10M contract) while Chychrun is a multi year asset, more than twice cheaper than Eichel and was coming off a career best year with a terrible Arizona team. The circumstances differ very, very much.

Personally speaking I think the Chychrun trade will resemble a lot the Seth Jones trade. It's going to be a stupid overpayment from a fan perspective, but a team desperate for a 1D to their team is likely willing to overpay. Don't think DET fits that bill though...that just isn't Yzerman's style. He'd rather develop their futures.

Yeah I have no interest in Chychrun unless the price is right. For me that would be like Berggren, 2024 first, and any of our LD prospects not named Edvinsson or Johansson. Plus whatever else would be in there. Sebrango is starting to look real good too, he might be worth while for Arizona.
