Flames already have Monahan Lindholm and Backlund for centers. I think Flames would take Toffoli tho

Flyers would gladly offer JVR (just 1 more season left) and their 2022 1st for Savard and one of toffoli or hoffman or dvorak.

Or JVR and dman prospect Zamula or center prospect O'Brien for either Dvorak or Toffoli

I would do JVR + 2022 first for Savard + Hoffman or Toffoli for sure. Good deal

Yeah but if you have Backlund playing 4th line and Monahan / Dvorak playing 2/3 you've got an extremely deep team.
Also looking like Monahan won't be back with Flames once hes a UFA, Dvorak has 4 years of term so it makes sense to get a replacement right now imo.

Would do the same deal for a retained Toffoli tho if flames would rather that.

Don't see the benefit at all for Weber if he retires as Hab or Pred. Either way Preds get "cap punished" for his front loading of the contract.

the trade is to help weber and Nashville in the case where he wants to retire anytime in the next 6 years in hopes to get a job in NHL management and make something out of the rest of his life.

??????. If Weber retires, for whatever team that holds his playing rights, he can get a job with whatever organization he wants to. If Weber retires, Nashville gets stuck with recapture due to the front loading of the contract. Doesn't matter what team what team holds his NHL rights. So it no cap benefit to Nashville to acquire him. Nashville certainly doesn't want 5.5m Drouin any more than Habs do.

3 mil Drouin if you actually looked at the trade. And your weber statement makes no sense. Nashville needs to take that contract back or else they're screwed for cap

Sorry, the team that paid Weber that front loaded contract and then used his service for 7.8m is on the hook for the recapture penalty, just like Luogono when he retired as Panther. His recapture penalty was largely on the Canucks. Why is Weber any different?
Yea, I did look at the Drouin trade, I still say Nashville isn't interested.

Since Weber's salary is now lower than his cap hit, Nashville's recapture penalty will start reducing once he's added to their roster.

Weber can take a front office job without retiring as a player, like Pronger did. There's no upside for him to officially retire and give up the money still owed on his contract. He's too injured to play and will stay on LTIR. That's what it's there for.

I don't think Holland will give up his 1st round pick for a rental. However, if he did, I'd prefer to see him unload Koekkoek and Shore on Montreal. Chiarot could help the Oilers in the playoffs, and then he'd likely enter free agency and sign somewhere else. For Edmonton, including Koekkoek and Shore opens up roster spots and cap space next season and with luck that creates opportunities for Holloway, McLeod, Broberg and Samorukov. For Montreal, Koekkoek might provide decent depth on their blue line, and both contracts can be completely buried in Laval is necessary. It seems to me that, from Edmonton's perspective, unloading depth players with term would take some of the sting out of paying a 1st round pick for a playoff rental.

Trevor Moore has been one of the Kings better bottom six players this season and is not just a cap dump. Montreal can take back Olli Maatta instead if it's just to help "clear cap."

However, I don't think LA has any interest in acquiring Mike Hoffman.

There was a time that I'd be interested in either/both.

The issue for us, imho, is cap space. Both this year and next.

If we hadn't signed Coleman a trade for Dvorak would've been an easy 'yes' but with Dvorak's contract there are bigger ripple effects contract wise down the road.

Just checked out Chiarot's "rels", which compare him to his teammates.

CF% rel - negative every single year of his career
SF% rel - negative 6 of the last 7 seasons
    GF% rel - negative last 3 seasons and 6 of 8
    xGF% rel - negative 6 of last 7
    SCF% rel - negative 7 of 8
    HDCF% rel - negative 6 of 7

These are not good numbers, in fact they are quite bad. Worse, they're largely caused by poor defensive metrics - he allows more shots against than average of his teammates, he allows more goals against, more scoring chances and more high danger corsi. It isn't due to zone starts either, he generally gets about 50% offensive zone starts.

He had one good playoff run where the refs allowed him to hack and whack opponents at will, and Habs fans think he's suddenly a 1st pairing defenseman who is worth a whole ton. Genuinely he's a replacement level guy and has been his entire career.

Actually, the results from the past 2 playoff runs are worse than his regular season results: http://naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20212022&thruseason=20212022&stype=3&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=r&v=p&playerid=8475279.php?fromseason=20212022&thruseason=20212022&stype=2&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=r&v=p&playerid=8475279
