Detroit is not giving you a massive upgrade in net for a bad goaltender, a garbage "prospect" and a late 2nd. Hell, the 2nd is probably the cost just to take Koskinen off your hands... he's really bad...

Not sure if Sens would do that Brown deal.

The first is gonna be a very late 1st rounder, and while Lavoie is a right-hand shot forward that has promise. The fact is Ottawa needs more roster players now that can make an impact not, if he can't crack the Oilers line up then he isn't really to fill that 2 line RW spot with Stuzle which si really needed.

However, I could be interested in doing a C Brown for Yamamoto package deal of some sort and seeing if he can become a full-time top 6 player with Stuzlte.

1. Swap out Lavoie for Yamamoto

and

2. Write in a condition that would allow the 1st round pick to move to 2023

And Ottawa would consider.

He's 7-1 with a 0.920 right now. Other than the beginning of last year when he got run into the ground playing every game while Smith was injured on a compressed schedule flying all over the country he's generally been a respectable goalie. Nobody is saying he's top tier by any stretch but also wouldn't consider him as a bad goalie. Probably closer to being an average goalie.

Meh... he has a stud team in front of him... all of his advanced stats are average, to below average... maybe it was a bit much saying bad, but he's below average...

Don't think Brown is the caliber of player I'd like to move a 1st for. Let alone adding Lavoie or as someone above suggested Yamamoto.

I guess we will see how bad he is he will start against you this week. Greiss in 7GP has 3.24-GA and 0.906S% and Koskinen in 8GP has 2.54-GA & 0.920S%. I wouldn't want this trade as it is very Bad for the Oilers.

You would need to add Yamo because Brown has 2 years left after this year at 3,6MM. And i believe Brown is worth it he is the same type of player as Hyman and Foegele and he can score 15-20 per season. it would be a huge add to our top 6, in fact probably gives us the best top 6 in hockey.

The thing is the Oilers top 9 is pretty great as is. As Yamo slowly heats up, with Drai/McDavid/Hyman/Nuge/JP already guaranteed top 6 guys, there just isn't a need for Brown. If you moved Yamo in the deal, you're getting a marginal upgrade immediately, but potentially losing long term. We have Foegele/Kassian who can absolutely step into the top 6 as needed, and Holloway on the way, I just don't think its a move that needs/should be made. I'd much rather move a 1st for a potential top 4 dman or starting goalie.

Obviously I have an Oilers bias, but I would not want to move Yamo for Brown 1 for 1. Brown is producing more right now, but Yamo plays so well away from the puck. Either he heats ip as he has recently, in which case I don't see him being extended for a high AAV than Brown. Or is he does struggle to consistency produce offence, then he remains a cheap (sub $2M AAV) guy who can PK like a mad man and be good depth piece for the 3rd line.

Having a good team in front of him definitely helps but the Oilers aren't exactly known for playing low event hockey and limiting chances. I usually take a look at GSAA/60 at all situations to get a sense of where they sit statistically. That puts Koskinen at +0.25 GSAA/60 and ranks 17 out of 47 goalies which is slightly above average. He's been good in 5 out of his 7 starts (bad game against Philly and just wasn't making the big saves against the Rangers but the team bailed him out in the latter). Looking at the rankings of GSAA/60, makes sense which goalies are near the top and very few of them would actually be available to acquire.

I was looking at his career advanced stats, not just this season. Your point is valid as he does appear to be considerably higher on all the advanced stats this season, but it's a very small sample size. I feel like he's just on a hot streak right now, which is still not exactly Vezina caliber, but his career stats are closer to who he actually is...
