When will Boston rebuild and how

Description
Pastrnak has said he signed for less on his earlier deal and that he does not care about the money so that's why he signed for less here. His market value is 11m+ maybe even 12 if he can prove that he is a legit 50 goal 100+ point player. You have him and Charlie locked up longterm to build around now. Bergeron will probably retire as a bruin and will provide excellent leadership during this rebuild.

You get Grzelcyk to agree on a 5 year 4.5 extension.

You draft Brennan to get another young goalie then you roll with him and Swayman and you trade Ullmark to Oilers so they finally get a good tender and also for cheap as you retain 50%.

I think Swayman is good but not a true starter that can become a top 5, top 7 goalie in the league and having another good tender is not a bad thing. You have Pasta and Charlie to build around and you have 2 good young tender that will play a 1A and 1B position.

I also needed to take back Lucic to finish it all where it started and it will attract some fans I think.

Bergeron is C
Pasta is 1A
McAvoy is 2A
Hall/Carlo for A sometimes when needed

Stramel will spend a year in the minors/CHL and then you play him as a full time NHL'er.

Niederreiter will get to play in a 1st line with Bergie and Pasta and could probably score 20-25 goals and 60+ points in this role making his contract seem really decent. The team is still not bad and got some youth innit. So this could be seen more as a retool to a full on rebuild.

I think a 1st and a decent young player could do it. Rasmussen will be 24 here and has struggled in Detroit so a fresh start surely won't hurt.
DET
  1. Marchand, Brad (2 125 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
If you retain on him you could get a very nice return. He is pretty old but should still be a 20-25 goal scorer that can give you 50-60+ points and be elite defensively with that edge to his game aswell. What would he bring in? Also for 4m he comes with a good contract aswell.

Nashville wants to retool and get rid of this bad contract so you get yourself a 1st and then you buyouy the rest of Johansen's deal. Yes the price could be better but still a free 1st basically is nice and Nashville might miss the playoffs so this could be a pick in the 10-15 range hence why I drafted Charlie Stramel expected to go 13th

With NSH likely going towards a rebuild and not currently in dire need of cap space, I don't see them packaging any upcoming 1sts to dump either Duchene or Johansen. And if NSH really wants to get rid of Johansen, that's not a bad buyout -- so they could just do that themselves.

Detroit is not giving up 1st round picks. The value isn't the problem, it's just not a fit.

Detroit passes, Marchand wont waive his NMC for Detroit, Marchand 2 x $4,000,000 35 years old doesn't fit our rebuild timeline. 2024 1st round pick and Rasmussen so that's basically 2 1st rounders for an aging Brad Marchand hell no.

Value aside, Rasmussen is young, big center and has progressed over the last two seasons. Has he struggled, yes, but I think he has turned a corner, after having to stay up with the big club a couple of years ago, rather than going back to juniors. Because of rules regarding draft picks, age and Minor League, he had to stay with the Wings as manangement thought going back to juniors would hurt his development.

That being said, I just do not see Yzerman trading 1st round picks until the team is much better.

Detroit doesn't do it, and Boston definitely doesn't.

EDIT: Sorry - i didnt see the year change. If Bergy is there, I would imagine Marchy is there.

Bringing back Lucic to attract fans might be the funniest thing i have ever read on this site. An O6 franchise needs to bring back a washed up vet that had a couple of good years there as a secondary player to attract fans. Lol.

I can't see edmonton with any goaltender other than smith, skinner, and another older stop gap for 22-23. No cap room till Sexy Rej and looch are off the books.

It’s two years away a lot can change cap wise. Keith will be off the books I have my doubts ceci will last two full years in Edmonton. It’s too far in advance to really evaluate what sort of cap space will have.

If you’re trading marchand for that, and then signing nino for that deal, i would think just keep marchand.

Out of curiosity, what has helped form your opinion on swayman. I can’t really imagine a better start to his NHL career. A .945 and a 1.5….he’s looked really really good.

I have just not seen enough of him but well I guess you never know. Im no expert. Either way having 2 good young tenders looks really solid and having Pasta and McAvoy to build around on top of that would surely be something to be excited about

“Nashville wants to retool” then gives away a first which will likely be in the 10-15 if not lower range… just to get rid of a contract that well… we don’t need to get rid of because we have tons of capspace and are retooling which means we are going to be bringing in a lot of our young cheap talent
