Description
Some of these players should not be traded at all.

Because at some point, we need to put a decent hockey team on the ice and compete.

Nobody wants to watch a NHL game if your hometown team is entirely made up of AHL fillers.

Tierney is trash. And you’re aiming too high for our depth players. Picks in a Brady trade does nothing. The return starts with a top prospect and a 1st

Did you read the "team explanation" at the very top?

On Brady, the first trade for Keith Tkachuk in 2001 could also serve as a good comparable.

I understand your logic behind trying to do trades comparable to ones already made but not only are you not using the right trades for comparison but you are also using teams in completely different situations than the comparabls

A compensation of 8 mill would be the same thing. That return just sucks. Top prospect or no trade

I agree, some of these players shouldn’t get traded. Tierney is meh, he wouldn’t get you anything more than a third round pick in my opinion. Nick Holden is a decent depth guy, but he wouldn’t get more than a fourth in my opinion. The rest of the trades seems fair… Tkachuk I would personally want more for, but he’s one player nobody would want to trade for, because the asking price would be high.

Would Jake Neighbours or Zachary Bolduc fit the description of a top prospect?

What? How is that related to what I said?
For example the Connor brown trade is just wrong, brown isn’t close to Coleman’s level and Toronto isn’t in the same situation that tampa was in. Taresenko and a 2nd or 2 1sts are equivalent to brady not tarsenko and 2 firsts

I'm not paying a 2nd for Tierney if I am Vegas, even with retention. Unless Tierney has a much better season than last year.

Nick Paul is a guy the Sens shouldn't trade. Just pay him, he shouldn't cost anything over 3 M$. It's not worth it to stockpile more picks/prospects. He's a solid foundational player on the bottom-6 and it's also important to have quality in these positions (ask Leafs/Oilers)

Connor Brown is also a keeper, unless his salarial demands are not reasonable. Having Brown on the 3rd line and Paul on the 4th line would be really great when we contend

Tarasenko is 30 y/o, played 27 % of his team's games of the last 2 seasons and is owed 9.5 M$ real dollars this season (that wouldn't get Melnyk's approval)

Personally I'm not trading Tkachuk for 2 late 1sts and Tarasenko

Sens should absolutely look for a 1 vs 1

Gee, I think you are almost there. Even without Brady to start the season, the Sens and there young players could show really growth. I think they could be a high and fast trajectory.
Stay the course. Next season when just about all teams are cap strapped, the Sens could make a splash in UFA.

I did my best to find some NHL trades that took place historically as a means of trying to give everybody a good picture of what our players are worth.

It's not perfect because nothing ever is.

Would you be able to tell me what would be a good trade from the past that would illustrate what someone like Brady Tkachuk or Connor Brown would be worth?

On the issue of Nick Paul and Connor Brown, I specifically say ...

1. Some of these players should not be traded at all.

2. Because at some point, we need to put a decent hockey team on the ice and compete.

On the issue of Brady Tkachuk, I did what I could to find a trade or two to illustrate what he might be worth.

I believe I found three.

Two involve his dad, Keith Tkachuk, and the third involves Brayden Schenn in June of 2017.

The trade involving Brayden Schenn is the one with the closest resemblance to what you see here.

IMO, Gaudreau's value comes closest to the Taylor Hall trade between the Devils and the Coyotes.

And that Hertl's value comes closest to the Matt Duchene trade between us and the Jackets.

Unfortunately, Tkachuk's situation is different.

He's under 25 years of age and is an RFA instead of UFA, meaning he's still under team control.

Also, what is missing Gaudreau's game and that of Hertl's is a physical element and standing up for their team-mates when they get pushed around.

Tkachuk has all of those qualities IMO.
