Which three teams in the NHL do you believe are on Tomas Hertls trade list

So, Tomas Hertl has made it pretty clear he'll be playing elsewhere in 12-15 months.

So, if the Sharks are going to miss the playoffs again, they should look at trading him before the deadline.

However, I feel that the question of which 3 teams are on his trade list is more important than what he could get return, which I think should include a 1st round pick.

If a certain team is not on Hertl's trade list, then any trade idea involving Hertl with that team is irrelevant.

And no, I don't think Ottawa is one of the three teams on Hertl's trade list.
    OTT
So, my question to you is this:

Which 3 teams in the NHL do you believe are on Hertl's trade list?

Here are some teams for which I think there is some reason to believe they might be on Hertl's 3 team trade list:

      Los Angeles Kings
      Seattle Kraken
      Vegas Golden Knights

      Chicago Blackhawks
      Dallas Stars
      St. Louis Blues

I think TBL and FLO. Both have competitive rosters, low taxes and good weather. I am blind-guessing BOS can be third, they like Czechs.

I'm pretty sure Hertl will be willing to be traded to more than just 3 teams. The whole point IMO is to make sure he doesn't get sent to Buffalo, Seattle (only because they are a expansion team), or possibly a Canadian city (where the pressure to perform is extremely high). He probably wouldn't be interested in Detroit either. As a Wild fan I would love him in Minnesota but then I think about it and I just can't see why he would want Minnesota, unless he thought he was the piece that would make the Wild a cup team.

I suspect Hertl will want a team that has a Czech teammate and is a cup contender. Not sure what teams fit that criteria, but maybe the acquiring team adds Simek to the deal as a 6th-7th Dman to keep Hertl in his comfort zone.

All of this is speculation on my part, it could be as simple as he just doesn't want to be near Kane. Should be interesting watching this one play out.

Panthers makes a lot of sense, IMO. Just depends on if they think they could re-sign Hertl, and Barkov.

FLO likes to overcorrect. Maybe Hertl in, and one or two of Bennett/Duclair/Reinhart out?

I assume Bennett. His skill set and age would intrigue Wilson and I can't see him performing consistently enough to fill the 2C role on a contender.

He may have a 3 team list, but i’m sure he’d waive for a dozen others though.

Rangers have Chytil for a Czech connection. Boston probably a decent fit with pastrnak there. Carolina has necas. Palat in Tampa but I don't think they can afford him. Gudas in Florida but they would also be hard pressed to afford him. Just some teams that come to mind with Czech players.

Hertl said this in Czech because he was too ashamed to say it in English:

"I wonder if San Jose will want to re-sign me, and if I’ll want to stay there".

That's not something you would say right before training camp if you have the intention of re-signing.

It's a growing possibility and there is absolutely no reason to dismiss it as a "false rumour".

Even the local sports media in San Jose is "swirling" this:

VGK, TBL maybe FLA. Those 3 have massive appeal because 1) they are good, and 2) no state income tax. I think many pro athletes are getting more savvy about things like that because who doesn’t want to take home more money.

In the second sentence, he says, "I wonder if San Jose will want to re-sign me, and if I’ll want to stay there."

That does not sound like someone who will be sticking around in San Jose.

He was too ashamed to say it in English, so he decided to say it in his native Czech.

If he was really confident about re-signing in San Jose, why couldn't he say so?

Also, this is a forum where you make random posts instead of college papers about NHL hockey.

      Just FYI :/

"I wonder if San Jose will want to re-sign me, and if I’ll want to stay there." isn’t a definitive answer either way though. Not saying Hertl leaving isn’t possible, but it’s dependent on a lot of factors like if Kane is moved on from and if the team is good or not. He’s probably not confident about re-upping in SJ because of the aforementioned factors as well as the teams lack of communication.

I just think drawing the conclusion that he 100% wants out of here is super hasty.

      1. I believe the Sharks are going to try to hang onto Kane.

Kane still has term left on his deal at a reasonable cap hit and he is everything you would want in a hockey player on the ice.

Selling off Kane would mean that the Sharks are 100% tanking and rebuilding for the foreseeable future

      2. Apparently, the NHL's investigation into whether Kane engaged in match fixing was squashed.

Mrs. Kane refused to be interviewed, which would lead the league to believe that she was only talking smack about him on social media.

She almost destroyed the family's biggest source of income and the only means to pay off some of his gambling debts with a single post on social media.

      Incredible frown

      3. As for whether the team is good enough to keep Hertl, all I can say is that the last two years paint a very grim picture for the future.

For that reason, Hertl wanting out is well within the realm of possibilities for the Sharks this upcoming season.

Nevertheless, buying out Martin Jones and making James Reimer and Adin Hill your goalie tandem could make a world of difference.

When in a tough game, the rest of the team will get a morale boost and a surge of confidence if they know the guy between the pipes can make a save.

We'll see how things play out.
