Paul Stastny has signed a new contract with the Winnipeg Jets.

AAV might be a tad high but he is still serviceable and a 1 year deal is no risk at all

Yes, Stastny is getting up there in age, but there's very little risk at just one year. If he does what he did this year, WPG is in good shape in terms of center depth.

Even seeing the comments on here I think there's some faulty thinking g going on that I'll try to outline:

Players age poorly, this is true. Even after 28 or so it's oftentimes a steep decline for a few years - especially physically reliant (strong or fast) players.

However this doesn't apply to everyone. And while the league perception is typically late (33-34 years before the value really drops) - some players, Stastny included, just don't fall off at that age.

I would've been happy with my Bruins paying him 5m x2 for example. He's good defensively and holds up on offense.
