As a Leaf fan, I think they have to get trade a high priced forward in order to get the cap space for two good players. I do that trade as suggested as a Leaf fan .

Marner is VERY good, but Chychrun looks like he's on the verge of Norris level play. I think the ceiling for Chychrun, combined with the position of importance (defense) AND his cap hit would make this a very poor deal for Arizona.

The best thing about young Adam Larsson was he fared relatively well against elite opposition (overall just meh) I mean he was fairly promising but...

Chychrun has HOF as his best case scenario he just had an 18 goal 40 pt + superb all around season for a team without elite scorers to glean points off at 23

This trade would actually be pretty even given how cost controlled chychrun is going forward and the very expansive ceiling his impressive ability provides

Statistically speaking Marner is better than Hall was too, but to be fair did anyone really think Hall for Larsson was actually fair? Other than Chiarelli I mean.

No but I think the gap is bigger between Hall and Larsson and Marner and Chychrun. 16's cap hit lowers his value and Chychrun is at least a top20 LD unlike Larsson at that time. Jones instead of Chychrun could be better imo

Fair point. I actually didn't realize how good a season Chychrun had until looking at it further after creating the post. Back to the drawing board I suppose. I wouldn't do this trade if I were ARI.

The term difference between Jones and Marner kills the point of the deal for Leafs. They already have Rielly with only year left.

That is assuming Marner himself is equivalent to Hall when he was traded. Which is not the case. Not a fan of the guy but he's head and shoulders above what Hall was back in Edmonton.

Chychrun broke out in a big way. 41 points in 56 games. He was amazing
