If anyone turned into Lidstrom, it would be a sight to behold... unfortunately, I don't think Brannstrom is it. Realisitically, it would take Brannstrom AND a 1st coming back, 2 2nds just isn't enough to give up Zadina, especially with the strides he took this season,

Fully depends on who they get with those picks (1st especially) and what kind of player Vrana is for us long term. Mantha is obviously a better player than Zadina.

I liked what our offense was going to look like with Mantha in the lineup rather than without. Hopefully we can replace him relatively quickly.

The rebuild would be solid with one of Wright, Lambert, Savoie next year

I feel like it could be a big win for Detroit. Vrana had a much better supporting cast in Washington but he has more points this year and his best year had more than any year for Mantha. If either of those piks pan out then Mantha would need to greatly improve to make it a win for Washington

Honestly disrespectful to even mention brannstrom in the same breath. The kid won’t even sniff what lidstrom did. I’m of the belief that it’s highly unlikely we even see another dman even close to as good as lidstrom was.

I’d look at Sanderson over Brannstrom based on how Yzerman favors size. I also personally like Sanderson. If Sanderson is off the table, I’d imagine they’d look at Norris and Stutzle with a plus from our side and I’d imagine Ottawa would decline. Don’t really see a fit after that as Detroit already has depth pieces in spades.

The rebuild would be way further along by drafting say Hughes/Power and then Wright/Lambert next year. You get your #1LD and your franchise centre in back to back drafts
