Forsberg to Buffalo

Description
Buffalo has an elite center those are hard to come by I feel instead of blowing it up they should get a competent coach and surround him with the best talent possible. Forsberg would be the best player to ever share the ice with Eichel and they could form a dynamic duo for years to come. What would it take to get him preds fans who would you take and Sabres fans what would you give up?

Gotta believe they would ask for Cozens as a starting point. @justaBoss has a offer that I think is about right.

The most I'd give up is Quinn, Johnson/Samuelsson, 1st, maybe a 2nd, roster player(s) to balance cap (Eakin, Miller, Thompson etc)

I'm a Preds fan who doesn't want to trade Forsberg, but that's not half bad. Didn't think Quinn would be on the table from Sabres fans.

Missed this one originally. Also very solid. Both Forsberg offers beat most of the ones from other teams on here.

Did Forsberg become a ppg player without me knowing it?
I like him- very good player- but that’s a hell of an overpayment

Hell, it’s even MORE than what we get for Eichel in A LOT of these awful proposals i keep seeing!

Forsberg bad target. We cannot trade our first. also Forsberg doesn't have much term and won't re-sign in Buffalo.

I can’t see them moving Cozens but that’s where I’d start in the negation

He’s a little over a PPG right now almost halfway into this season on a bad Nashville team. The situation as is reminds me a lot of the Stone trade from Ottawa. Forsberg’s production is very close to what Stone had going into the trade. One can argue that Stone is the better all around player but Forsberg has more time on current contract. Stone got what was considered at the time one of the (if not the) top Vegas prospect and a 2nd. I’d say that’s about where things would end up in a Forsberg trade but he might get a little more since it’s two playoff runs or if things don’t work out Buffalo recoups cost by trading him next deadline

Why would the Sabres want to give up anything for 1.5 years of Forsberg. Gee Sabres have 17m in two LWers, Hall and Skinner.

    That’s all fair
But the guy i was responding to wants to give up:
    -Quinn (our best prospect)
    -Johnson/Samuelsson (a good defenseman prospect)
    -1st (which is a top5 pick likely)
    -maybe a 2nd
-roster player(s) to balance cap (Eakin, Miller, Thompson etc)

For a guy who’s a UFA after next season, right?
Let’s be honest here- the Sabres aren’t Vegas- so who knows if he’d even agree to sign here too

I wasn’t really commenting on how good Forsberg is or isn’t,
more that the guy i responded to wanted to give up so much for him

He's been at ppg or near it pace for the past 4 seasons. I'd happily give that up if he extends

Not last year & not the year before
He was right about .75 pats/gm
So we’re talking 60-65pts in a full season

    Too much for him
And i really doubt NSH would trade him anyways

Not saying BUF should target the guy. But given how good he's been this season, imo that'll be the Preds demand.

I don’t see that even one team paid such a package for Forsberg, of course he is a great player, but he has a season and a half left on term.

I mean, there's no good precedent on a trade like that, so it's hard to say what is a fair value for a player traded in such situation.

I can only think of two comparables, and neither of them are good for various reasons.
    - Duchene to OTT trade. It was a 3-way trade and COL ended up making three times bigger steal on it than the offer I suggested.
    - Coleman to TB trade. We're talking about a player on a completely different level here, yet he also managed to get a first round pick and a prospect equivalent.

My exchange idea is somewhere between them.

Olofsson cost 1st + prospect. Cozens is our best prospect, he is the center and he is a stud, this is clearly too much for a year and a half Forsberg. We can, of course, partly recall Stone's trade in Vegas, but even there was a lower price and Stone seems to me a better player than Forsberg.

For what it's worth, based on what you said you have Olofsson in higher trade value than Mark Stone. And he was acquired as a pure rental, no confirmation on whether it was a sign-and-trade and did OTT get any value on that regard. Probably not. Point being, he's not comparable to Forsberg due to having a year less term on his contract.

As for NSH, they are in need of exactly what is a stud C prospect. If, and only if, BUF were after the guy, Cozens would be the most natural ask. But like said, there's no point for Sabres to do that, considering the status they're in.
