Description
Because of bonuses buying out Roussel, Beagle and Eriksson have no cap savings. Thanks JB! Holtby is the more obvious buyout with Demko taking control of the net and DiPietro needing ice time

I wouldn't do Virtanen and a 2nd for Tierney, not a chance is Ottawa also taking Eriksson. Virtanen is not a guy who would have a future in Ottawa. He's not pushing anyone out of their top 9 RWs (Batherson, Dadonov, C.Brown), and he's not a good 4th line player.

This point has been done to death. Erikssson makes no real money. 100% Ottawa is taking him after their recent offseasons

I hate that Palat could potentially be traded for a 2nd. I know it’s probably the reality because people are trying to take advantage of Tampa, but as far as value goes Palat is easily worth a 1st round pick. It would be tough for Tampa to part ways with Palat for a meager 2nd round pick.

The way Palat is playing either they keep him or get at least a first round pick

Management would not trade away Miller, not just because he has emerged as a leader in the organization but essentially delays the team being competitive now for the cup. If you're getting an NHL-ready player then that's a different scenario.

Lind won't reach his min games played. So he will therefore be exempt.

Palat trade is plausible. TB in cap trouble when Kuch comes back. They also have Killorn they can unload.

Sure, he only makes 4mil compared to his 6mil Cap hit, but that means literally nothing to Ottawa. He doesn't come close to making the Sens as a regular next year, and they don't need to add contracts to artificially inflate their cap to hit the floor. They have several big RFAs coming up this summer including Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson who are their top goal scorers and their top two point producers right now. They will be well clear of the cap floor next season, so there is no incentive to pay a useless player 4mil, when they are simply better without him. They save more money paying him 0 dollars.

Also you're totally ignoring the key point that Virtanen isn't a worthwhile addition for Ottawa, and that they likely get a better offer for Tierney than a 2nd and a player who wouldn't fit in Ottawa at all.

its also that we would be doing vancouver a favour taking 8m in cap off their books, we got a second for taking 3m off tampa's books, would likely want a lot more for taking 8m from vancouver and giving them breathing space

Ok forget the cap hit. The Sens get a 2nd round pick for nada. iF THE SENS DONT DO IT ANOTHER TEAM WILL so replace the Sens by another team.

Tierney is a luxury the Sens cant afford at Centre. You made the point for me. They have many youngsters that flood the middle of the ice. Tierney really? Virtanen? Both negligible assets. Neither is moving the needle

100% they are taking Eriksson or someone else that wants to save money and get a pick

This is damn selective.
You're completing ignoring Tierney's salary. Eriksson also makes 4m, Virtanen 2.5. On the other hand Tierney makes 3.5. My math says that 3m in extra salary (cap is meaningless in ottawa, not a cap team) for a 2nd rounder same as Tampa trade. You literally made my point if your math was correct

tierney's salary isint complete deadweight like loui's is, we can get actual assets for him. Leafs gave up a first round pick to get rid of marleau and his 6.25m cap hit, dont see why the sens would give up an actual valuable player, AND take on a similar cap dump for less. Like he already said, virtanen has 0 value to the sens so adding him to sweeten the dump doesnt work

Again, if Sens dont take him... Another team will. See Marc Staal. Hey maybe the Sens will even send a 2nd rounder back for taking Eriksson. Maybe Im being too generous here. See Stepan

alright pretty funny with the stepan part, but he had 6 points, loui cant even get into 6 games. take out tierney and this is closer, but with him in its an undebatable loss for the sens

Tierney is not a negligible asset. He's going to be redundant for Ottawa, but he's a very valuable 3C. Way more valuable than Virtanen who is a fringe player.

and sure, maybe someone will take Eriksson's deal, but Ottawa's not at that stage anymore. They're trying to get better, they aren't trying to be in an eternal rebuild
