Not getting a package like that from the Rangers while they take on 6 years of Skinner.

Not getting Eichel with a package like that without Skinner being involved. Works in two ways.

Honestly though, imo best bet for BUF is to dump Skinner with Eichel, because no matter what they will be losing any trade where Eichel is involved. Even if it hinders his absolute value a bit, getting rid of that contract is a major bonus.

On the other hand, knowing that wingers tend to succeed in NYR (Panarin being the latest example), Skinner at $6,75M could turn out a massive W if he can find his 40 goal game in a new environment. It's not uncalled for a player to start to bloom after getting the f*ck out of that disaster of an organisation. It happened with ROR, and also Bogosian turned into a solid shutdown D as well. It's a bit of a gamble.

Fwiw a top10 C in the league had no real impact.

I don't think anything or anyone is capable of lifting that sinking ship out from the sea. It's a shipwreck for good until someone relocates it.

Rangers aren't taking on all that salary. They already extended Kreider, when they probably shouldn't have. And they may have to cut Buchnevich loose soon, as it is. Can't make that salary work long term.

Sabres aren't going to have any big Contracts taking up space once Eichel leaves (along with Hall, Risto, Montour, Miller and Staal soon). If anything, Skinner works to keep them above the Cap floor.

They dealt with Okposo on the books for ages. Just going to have to do the same thing with Skinner.

I'm gonna be honest here I'd have a hard time accepting the fact that Buffalo could get Kakko Or Lafrenière if you make them take Skinner. Even at 6.75 its a big question mark, 1 point in 16 games isn't something that really makes u get excited about a player and its not just this season, last season he was on pace for 36 points in 82 games. Idk how much of that was played with Eichel but unless Buffalo is retaining half I want nothing to do with him

I'm not 100% disagreeing with you. But trading eichel sets this team back so far. No matter the return and I don't trust this front office to make a decent trade so we're probably just gonna be bad forever

Exactly why I'd want them to move Skinner in that exchange.

99% of the trades for Eichel are to the Rangers but I think a team that is always quiet yet sneaks in there at the end is Vegas.
It's a summer trade anyways and Vegas has a way of making things work so that is my prediction.

99% of the trades for Eichel are to the Rangers but I think a team that is always quiet yet sneaks in there at the end is Vegas.
It's a summer trade anyways and Vegas has a way of making things work so that is my prediction.

Not with their cap situation. It's a maxed out struggle.

They sealed that deal after signing Petro.

But I give you that Eichel to VGK is an interesting idea, since they truly need a 1C.

It happens in the summer, if a roster player and the Sabres take the last year of MAF it won't be a problem cap wise. I'll try and work up a trade.

Honestly the problem on that is that Fleury is the most likely option right now to win the Vezina.

There's no real reason for a contending team to move their clear cut 1G.

It happens after this year is over...MAF isn't leading them on in the future...Eichel would.

Exactly why I'd want them to move Skinner in that exchange.

            Quoting myself here from earlier

I mean if you're gonna lose an eichel trade I don't know if i understand doubling down and losing the trade even more

Is there any scenario where BUF would win any trade involving Eichel? I don't think so.

But getting rid of Skinner in the process...even small victory is still a victory.

But adding Skinner to Eichel is going to reduce what u are going to get from a team. If I'm the Rangers there is no chance ur getting Lafrenière or Kakko if they have to take Skinner

I do think the difference between Eichel and Kakko justifies adding Skinner there, and some more.

Think it'd be top tier prospect, roster player to even out the cap, a good prospect and a first.

Would this work if for instance BUF added Mittelstadt to the exchange.

As far as I know Mittelstadt hasn't done anything special and he has been given a lot of chances to shine in Buffalo but maybe along the lines of

            Ryan Strome
            Kaapo Kakko
            Zac Jones
            2021 1st Round Pick

            Jack Eichel
            Jeff Skinner (3M retained?)
            Casey Mittelstadt

While it is an interesting idea I have a hard time not imagining Buffalo retaining half of Skinner, I'd throw in another 2nd round pick if they did though

Ehh, think BUF would be better off by just keeping Eichel and Skinner.

Can't see them retaining no more than 25% of that contract. $2,25M for 7 years is a very hefty price wasted for nothing.
