I saw a trade similar to this online but it didn't include the fourth going to Florida. It also had this package plus a second coming back to Nashville. I doubt Florida would do this, but I think Nashville would be all over it if they did.

I get that Ekholm is very good and on a reasonable contract, but Lundell and a 1st may be too much, especially considering Florida's performance in 21/22 is a question mark

I agree with you. I don't think Florida does it. I just saw the idea here: https://www.ontheforecheck.com/2021/2/22/22294487/nashville-predators-trade-rumor-mattias-ekholm-philadelphia-flyers-boston-bruins-carolina-hurricanes

I agree that return on Ekholm seems a little high. Granlund too, I think. A late 1st isn't unthinkable for Granlund, with the retention and a 4th added, but BOS has arguably the worst prospect pool in the NHL - giving up a 1st may be a little rich for them, for a player like Granlund. Maybe a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st if BOS reaches the finals?

EDM doesn't have the cap space for Arvidsson.

EDIT: I think you adjusted the EDM proposal while I was typing. That solves their cap problem, but with Neal added, I don't know if the extra 2nd is compensation enough.

I meant to put "to anywhere" on the Granlund trade so I will fix that. I'm not really sure of Arvidsson's value around the league, so I meant to change it to be more like Arvidsson for Holloway and the 2nd, and then a 1st for taking Neal.

Lundell is nearly a Kaapo Kakko level prospect who unluckily ended up in a historically loaded draft class and I honestly still dunno why he didn't go ~ 6th 😐

They're eerily similar

NHLe, trajectory, talent, even their style, stature, both from south west Finland, both 2001 birthyears... anyhow Lundell going 12th is very misleading

Yeah I have no idea how he fell to 12. He seems to be close to being NHL ready. I think Kakko probably has a higher ceiling, but I would say Lundell has a higher floor. I would love for Nashville to find a way to get him, but I don't think Florida would be interested in moving him at all. I do wonder if Denisenko would be made available though.

Teams aren't allowed to trade conditional picks anymore. There was some fuss by Zuccarello's camp when Dallas refused to resign him because they didn't want to give up a conditional 1st.

Conditional picks are still allowed for things like team success, or player performance. It's just conditions based on players re-signing that aren't legal anymore.

I think the only way the panthers trade lundell which they dont since he’ll be the 2c probably next season, is for a bigger package like adding forsberg to Nashville part and panthers add whatever else. But I still say they dont trade lundell.

The 2020 draft class was not really a loaded class. 2019 was. 2015 was. But 2020 was rather weak considering values at the time. But that can change. 2017 was also viewed as a weaker cohort, but now looks pretty good.

That said, agree with you that Lundell should have gone higher (around 7-9).

Yeah this isn't very good for us
As others have said I would rather keep our future 2nd line center and have a crosby-malkin situation than have ekholm for 2 years
If you changed Lundell to a lower tier prospect then sure

Edmonton declines. Holloway is too important to throw away for a Hobbit who hasn't been good for 2 years now.

2019-20 and 2020-21 combined:

James Neal: 66, 21-15-36 (0.32 G/GP and 0.55 P/GP)
V Arvidsson: 74, 17-18-35 (0.23 G/GP and 0.47 P/GP)

And you want Edmonton to add Holloway + 1st + 2nd????

One is a cap dump, the other one isn't. Not sure if you're aware, but Arvidsson dealt with injuries last year and hasn't had a consistent center the past two seasons. I have much more confidence in Arvidsson getting back on track than I do in Neal, especially if he's playing with a center like Draisaitl or McDavid. Like I said earlier, I'm not sure on Arvidsson's value around the league (because of the dip in production) so this could be off.

That's fair. It was just something I saw somewhere and when I read it I thought that there was no way Florida would do it. Ekholm fills a hole for you, but if I'm Florida I don't give up my top center prospect for 1.5 years of him. Do you think there's any chance you all would move Denisenko? If so, what would need to be added on either side?

Denisenko is in a similar spot to Lundell, although he is a bit lower on the prospect depth chart than him. I wouldn't want to move him at this time. Maybe someone like Noel or Schwindt instead

Arvidsson is owed $15.7M
Neal is owed $15.2M.

Neal scores more, has more points and is owed less, and yet somehow he's a cap dump and Arvidsson isn't? Nevermind that he played a month last year on a broken toe. He's missed more injury time than Arvidsson in the past 1.5 seasons, not sure why you'd use that as an excuse. Neither player is going to get much time playing with McDavid or Draisaitl, so that's not a factor.

Holloway is a 15th overall pick from the most recent draft who is killing the NCAA as a 19-year-old. He's worth a top-10 pick on his own, easily, and is projected to be on the NHL roster come October. I wouldn't trade him straight up for Forsberg.

And you added another 1st and a 2nd. This isn't a little off, its way out in left field.
