<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>Cap space = $292.5k
Makar bridge deal adds around $2.5M
New space = $2.8M
Bowers or Kovalenko to Loveland adds $925k
Cap space to add = $3.7M

If they can nibble a bit off the Landy and Grubauer contracts (maybe Makar too) then they might be able to get there on Saad. Landy at $7.2, Grubauer $5.4, Makar $6.25 means $4.6M to sign Saad. Massage the cap a bit with call ups and you can maybe give him a bit more. It's tough though.

Moving Compher solves a lot of problems.</div></div>

ELC's don't count towards the NHL cap when the player is in the AHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>I think some of those numbers are hopeful thinking especially if they win the cup and/or any of them win awards. Makar has never been paid paid and let’s be honest he is in a whole different category than the others and honestly don’t know that a bridge even at $6.25 gets it done especially considering his agent is going to want to wait for Hughes, Dahlin and Heiskanen to sign. Grubauer is the biggest wild card, you know his agent is going to point to the Markstrom deal. Gabe is going to be the 1st one who has an opportunity to take the proverbial home team discount for the long term success of the team.</div></div>
Yeah Makar is getting paid, either $7m+ on a bridge, or $9-10m on a long-term deal. Grubauer definitely has a good case for Markstrom money, but you know Sakic is going to push for the Lehner deal and say that Johansson and Francouz also have good stats playing behind this league-best D group.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangle</b></div><div>i think danault played himself out of that contract this season. i have no problem moving kadri but i'm not sure danault is the guy to replace him anymore.</div></div>
You may be right regarding his contract. I was just making an AGM with a contract for Danault that is realistic to getting him. He'd probably prefer to go somewhere where he's guaranteed to be a top 6 C long-term, so it would probably take a little overpay in UFA to get him. Lot's of GM's would love to add a C like him to their roster in UFA.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DeadWingsv2</b></div><div>I don't know why so many are so high on Danault. He looks like he's plateaued and will likely only be a 40pt a year guy, which has it's value, but not at the price and term people have been throwing around for him on here.</div></div>
Danault would fit like a glove on this team, either as 2C or 3C long term.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>So the plan is to block newhook to making the jump to 2C? Or do we really want to have a 4-5 years of a 3C with that danualt contract.

This doesnt make a lot of long term sense to me. Especially that contract, that is ROUGH in a flat cap era for a non core player.</div></div>
I don't think Danault necessarily blocks Newhook. As long as Danault gets paid I don't see why he'd have an issue with potentially moving down to 3C on an elite team. It'll probably come down to money more than position.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>You have no idea if Newhook is a 2C, or even an NHL player.</div></div>
It's unlikely that he busts, but it's fair to say that it's no guarantee that he'll be a top 6 C within 12 months when Kadri moves on. Danault would be nice insurance for sure, and could slide into 3C if and when Newhook takes over 2C. And until 2023 with Mackinnon and Newhook on a combined $7.3m it's certainly feasible to overpay a little bit on another top 9 C.
