I’m concerned that the Flames have developed an attitude of “don’t worry, Markstrom will save us” and then not showing up until they’re losing. They’ve done this in almost every game this season. Of course, you can ride a hot goalie, the Flames did it in 03-04, the Canadiens did it for 3 years, the Senators did it for a few months, the Blues did it to a Stanley Cup victory. But all of those goalies have something in common (with the exception of Binnington) they got burnt out. We can’t let that happen to Markstrom, especially not with 5x6 left on that deal. Quite concerning if we can’t figure it out

You seem really down in the dumps about the Flames right now. I'd offer my two cents, but I don't think it'll make you feel any better.

Elite third period by the Habs, Brodie is directly responsible for the last goal. Trips, then loses the battle to Gallagher allowing for the knock down tip. Auston Matthews has to be in the Vezina convo after those kick saves with the net empty

I agree, Brodie was not having a great game either, nor Andersen, but Brodie has had an amazing year defensively witch is his POSITION*, he just had a bad game.

*IDK why I made it caps but I'm just angry people say Hughes and other OFFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN are the best defenseman even though point scoring isn't needed for playing defense.

Ward must be fired. Lucic must be traded. What an atrocious excuse for a performance

Canucks haven't played the same game the last 3 as they have the games before this. Having practice time and some rest FINALLY was a huge help. The argument of "the canucks suck" is irrelevant to last game. They played yesterday as if it would be their last game.

Says every competent person who has watched them play. They’ve clearly been much, much better the last 3 games.

Considering how the team’s announcements have treated him, and what Friedman said on Saturday, I don’t expect Galchenyuk to play a game for the Canes, whether he clears waivers or not.

Absolutely. And the fact that he speaks Russian and lived in Russia makes it all more likely.

Yeah. His first language is Russian, and his parents were born in Belarus (which was part of the USSR at the time). He moved around a lot, because his father was a pro hockey player, so growing up he lived in the USA, Germany, Russia, Italy, and Switzerland before going over to play in the OHL.

Well most of the info is just from this article and for the countries he lived in I just looked at his father’s Elite Prospects page. I knew off the top of my head that he spoke Russian, because it’s an interesting thing for a player who was born in and plays internationally for the USA to have Russian as their first language.

A lot of first and second-generation immigrants speak their mother language at home so it's not surprising.

I've also heard his dad wasn't the greatest mentor for Alex, like he'd berate him after every game over the phone.

I know about immigrants. I guess I’m more talking about the fact that he was only in the US while he was a baby, and only moved back when he was a teenager. And I have no idea about his father, again, I just learned this through going through Elite Prospects and reading the article from Montréal’s website.

I’m a Galchenyuk fan but I think he has the potential to be really good offensively but will always be bad defensively and I would think having a lot less pressure would help him

Either that, or a trade partner was waiting for him to clear waivers and put him on their taxi-squad.

He had no pressure in Ottawa, and was still on the fringe of being in the lineup the whole time. Galchenyuk just isn’t an NHLer anymore.

Galchenyuk was sent to the AHL, he wasn't even sent to the Taxi Squad. What a fall from grace
