Team Explanation
Fiala has good speed a nice wrister could be a consistent 40 goal scorer with McDavid feeding him pucks.
Yes... yes he would. Which is exactly why it will never happen and why he's untouchable. He's literally our best player and he's only 23. From February through to the stoppage last year he was the best player in the league, he couldn't be stopped. It took a global pandemic shutting down the league for that to happen. He then proceeded to show up for us during the play-ins... which if you haven't noticed is kinda a much needed first for our organization since Gaborik.
Ask your self this. Would you trade Nugent-Hopkins for that pakage? Yamamoto? McDavid or Draisaitl might not stack up in terms of value in play here but they are no less then the two most important players on the Oilers roster. Fiala, Kaprizov and Rossi are the central core of our roster moving forward and this does nothing to help a team that's currently entering an on-the-fly rebuild.

Additional Details:
This might be an overpayment but this is the best I could do.
Two good prospects, a cap dump and a 2nd might seem like an overpayment by Oilers fans, but it's not. It's probably the bare minimum.... and still nowhere near enough.
If you expect Fiala to be a 40 goal scorer with McDavid then maybe you should try paying out like he is. Fiala creates his own chances, he scores for himself and doesn't need anyone to do it for him. During his hot streak, he scored in spite of Staal not because of him.
Yes the prospects you're giving up are two really good prospects but they'll only ever be two really good NHL players. Fiala is a high-end talent, who if he reaches his full potential, could possibly even be among the most elite wingers in the league someday. Again, something we haven't had since Gaborik. And there's a good chance Fiala will help us forget Gabby, once and for all.
Fiala was our lone bright-spot last year. This coming year we will finally see Kaprizov come over, something we've been waiting for... for five years. Throw Rossi into the mix, plus our outstanding prospect pool. The future has never looked brighter, because for the first time in franchise history we'll be fielding not one but two to three high-end finishers/players.
So, to make a long story short...
NOT GONNA HAPPEN!
*Whew! I don't know about you, but I feel better getting that off my chest! Apologies for the novel!*
