I currently scout voluntarily for two WHL teams and likely getting hired by one of them next year. I think I know how to evaluate players. It starts by watching them. Try it sometime.

There's a reason why advanced analytics are the 3rd evaluation tool for most teams. Watching the player play is the #1 evaluation tool. If analytics were accurate and worker 100% then we wouldn't need scouts, right?

The only thing he did wrong was that first poke check in his corner in the first clip and he lacked effort, they are literally using one game that doesnt even matter (last place team against last place team) to label Doughty not good anymore.

Would you like me to prepare a presentation for you using the game he played against Calgary and Tkachuk and tell you he is the best defeneman in the league? Because in that game he sure looked like it.

I've been watching Doughty for 4 years straight. 2 seasons ago he got 60 points and was easily the best defenseman in the league that year and the past 3 years before that.

The only knock I have on Doughty nowadays is his efforts in the games that don't matter, but if you watcher him play against playoff teams and rival teams he was the best defenseman on the ice.
