Oh right we forgot, the pandemic was already happening and wrecked the economy 2 years before it started. Relevance doesn't mean much to you does it.

Pietrangelo is a top 5 RHD, he’ll get max term. Calm down

I think that is likely the case but a smart and patient GM will block out the noise and wait to see what the market dictates, I think a couple of contracts will come early and then it'll slow right down. My hope is short term bargains will arise. Too many teams are cutting costs this summer, trades will be slow and signings may be even slower.

The red wings are not interested in kerfoot, rumor is completely false. This trade is declined. 3rd line centers who score 27 points with 3.5M cap hits do not get 2nd round picks.

Leafs keep the player and the cap hit, wings keep the pick and the cap space

I think it is one of those Toronto media begging rumors. Because Detroit doesn't need any more bottom 6 forwards. (Not better than Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi, Zadina, Fabbri) and I'd rather give one of the prospects or a salary cap dump a chance at that 6th forward spot rather than a 15 goal 40 point guy with a larger cap hit.

Let’s give him a chance.

Then plays him on the 4th line.

Leafs shouldn’t be in the business of “giving” prospect a chance. They have to earn the chance. Bracco simply has not done so.

Ya, I keep saying he should just be traded. He would fetch a late round pick (4-5th probably) so I would just trade him.

I'm not saying that the Kerfoot to Detroit rumours make sense, but he would not be a bottom 6 in Detroit. You only named 5 guys, first of all. And Fabbri and Kerfoot are about the same.

Fabbri is better offensively (14 goals in 52 games vs 9 goals in 65). He's 2 yrs younger and was a higher draft pick (so more potential for continued growth). He's 550k cheaper over the next two years. So yeah he's better not about the same.

Joe Veleno or Michael Rasmussen--both 1st round picks-- are both prospects that I was referring to that I'd rather see as top 6 than Kerfoot. Also, with the Wings 34M cap space they can afford to take another team's cap dump and place them in the top 6. Again as I stated above. So that is why the current 5 listed plus either one of the prospects OR a cap dump would mean Kerfoot is bottom 6 on Detroit and not worth taking on. Just like I said.

I’m pretty sure the thing about him to the Leafs is based on the fact that he’ll make 25+ mil in the first calendar year due to signing bonuses. The rumour about the lower AAV would only come as part of a sign and trade where he gets the 8th year, not because he wants to go to Toronto.

It makes me laugh that kerfoot is so good from Toronto fans, but they want to trade him 65 times a day. I'd think if my team couldn't get past the first round in 15 years and a guy is a top 6 player but we are lucky enough to get him playing in the bottom 6 because we are so deep, that we would want to keep him. This logic from leafs fans is such a joke, they can keep him.

I myself love kerfoot, and always try to hold onto him in these, however this time i ran into cap issues.

Toronto has cap issues? with 4 forwards signed for over 40M (SMH) ...must skimp on the defense and get bounced in the playoffs early. Yet, no one seems to address that issue other than trading bottom 6 guys or ones coming off significant injuries that no other team wants and signing the best UFA defender to a below market contract in term or AAV...might as well make up the T-shirts: pre-season and regular season champs (playoffs not included).

truth. You won't believe how many times i get yelled at for proposing trading nylander or signing Gudas. Or saying Lehtonen and Barabanov in or Liljegren is a bust

I don't know what to tell you other than keep driving home that point. But know you're up against the guy that buys the 200 jersey to toss it on the ice one game later after paying 400 for the seats near the ice.

Cap-wise Toronto has perhaps a two-year window before they will be forced to dump quality players. They bet on a continually rising cap for these top 4 forward contracts and that gamble is going to cost them. What's worse is they have yet to have that long sustained run in the playoffs where guys know what level is required and they don't have the cap room to acquire depth for those types of runs particularly on the back end like a lot of other cup teams.

yeah, all they have going for them is praying that A. Their top guys like marner and matthews don't take a lot more than what they have. Their contracts take them right into their prime years, thats when you try and lock them up. After that its a bunch of bridges until tavares is up. By then the window is still open providing the good players they have rn, led by matthews and marner are still there.

I think one of the Steve Dangle podcasts from last week had mentioned that Minnesota had interest in more centers. Maybe Kerfoot could be a fit there?

Wrong Detroit's never had interest in Kerfoot, The rumor was that they had interest in Kasperi Kapanen. And you're not getting no freaking 2nd for a 3rd line C who averages around 27 points per season.

Ok my bad. I didn’t know to much about Fabri, I was basing it on the delaross trade. That was a bad trade.
