Yeah I real can't see calgary trading away their best center. If anything they could use another center equal or better than monahan

I agree, it doesn't make sense for the Flames to trade him but he's apparently available and the Flames are interested in Dumba.

Here's my source, Michael Russo (our beat writer) at The Athletic

"Now, teams don’t trade No. 1 centers every day, but one team that might have interest [in Dumba] is Calgary.

The Flames may want to alter the core not unlike what Guerin’s trying to do, and there’s lots of talk that Sean Monahan, a 6-foot-3 center that’s 25 years old with three years left on a contract with a $6.375 million cap hit, could be had."

If monahan is on a cup contending team he's the #2 center. This minny team maybe wins a round or 2 at most. And that's only if kaprizov goes off, johansson bounces back, strome isn't just a panarin benefactor, and georgiev has a can handle a heavier workload.

I think he's like Duchene used to be. Competent 1C, but more of a 'tweener 1A/1B type. I think you're forgetting about Fiala, he scored 26 points in 18 games and was every bit as dominant in the play-ins against Vancouver. He'd be the gamebreaker on that line like Geaudreau was for Monahan in Calgary. If Kaprizov is 75% of the player he has been hyped up to be, that could be a very dangerous top line. But yeah, it's a risky team if Zuccarello proves he isn't the player he used to be, Johansson is the same player he was in Buffalo, Kaprizov ends up being another Shipachyov, and Georgiev regresses.

No. Dumba would be nice, but monahan would be nicer, and if we want a RD, we can resign Brodie or Hamonic

Just going off of reports, sounds like Monahan is available and that the Flames are interested in Dumba. But like I said, if I'm the Flames I'd keep my 1C...

Unless Treliving has a plan for another 1C, we really shouldn’t trade Sean.

True, neither do the Wild...... and yet here we are. I didn't think Guerin would move Staal either unless he knew for certain he had a replacement in the bag. Now he's in Buffalo and Calgary wants to shake up their core too.

As a Flames fan, I'm taking it. I don't want to give up Monahan, but I want to bring back Brodie and continue to wallow in mediocrity even less. Plus I think Dumba would be a fantastic fit and Lindholm is better at C anyway.

Why do people keep saying lindholm is a good center? If he was a good center he'd already be playing center...

Not the case actually. He DID play there, but due to the shortcomings and defensive deficiencies in Johnny's game, they had to shift Backlund to Centre which was not received well so the coach took the players feedback into account and switched it back. We see how well that turned out....

Lindholm IS the more well rounded Centre. Also; for a guy that cheers for a team that turfed a hall of fame coach you'd think you'd be familiar with the concept that coaches aren't infallible.
