Carolina pass hard. Kerfoot is a good piece, Andersen is a lateral move for 1 year, Holl is just bad and while SDA and a 1st are nice, Carolina are contending, not selling for the future.

Andersen is 100% better then both of your goalies. Hands down. He'd be a top 5 goalie in the league if he played on a team with any defense. Holl is also not "bad". He's a 4-6 Dman with a very reasonable cap hit. He's exactly the kind of contract every team needs. Are there better options? Sure. Are there worse options? Definitely.

Now, I don't think the trade is what Carolina is looking for so I'd assume they would pass.

I'm actually surprised by this, Pesce has been injured the past 3 seasons, and missed the playoffs this year.

With Hamilton, Skjei, Slavin, and Gardiner under contract your top 4 seem rounded out.
Moving Pesce for depth up front in Johnsson would be a good move for now (remove Holl, that's dead weight cap dumping and worth nothing) and maybe insist on $1M in salary retention

Take Andersen and flip Mrazek or Reimer elsewhere, Sign Vatanen and Fleury and you'd probably be better up front and in nets with an already solid d-core.

    Oh and Draft Askarov.

Are you seriously trying to rationalize that trade for CAR?

he said Carolina was contending... how was Pesce's playoff performance again?

How has Stamkos’ postseason performance been? What about Tarasenko or any other injured player for that matter? That’s a ridiculous argument.

Pesce is much more important to the Canes’ future success than any of those lesser pieces.

Contracts are important too, he needs re-signing in a year, will likely deserve a raise, and Carolina have some major deals to sign this summer and next.

Pesce is better than Skjei and especially Gardiner. Skjei is LD and Gardiner is a disaster on RD. Keane has some potential but otherwise, CAR doesn't have someone to play RD on the top4. Hamilton is UFA next year.

BEST TOP 9 IN THE NHL. You have to be joking. Non NHLers Robertson, Barabov in the top 12. Seems like a overpay for Pesce. And Holtby isn't that special now, and won't be for four years

This guy thinks Pesce is worth Nylander +, he's a crazy Canes Homer. There is no rational discussion with him

Pesce doesn't bring success he benefits within success. Now don't get me wrong he is a good player but let's be realistic here. He's a 2nd pair RHD defenceman. That's it. He isn't an all-star, he isn't elite and he doesn't offer much apart from sound defensive play. (Every team needs those player sure but they are secondary pieces and not that difficult to replace if you have a system that works. ). Pesce is treated like he is Doughty at 25, he is nothing remotely close to that. He's Komisarek when he was benefiting from the system and Markov in Montreal.

    Flawed logic.

Hamilton has 1 year left to ufa. Pesce is the only RD CAR has signed long term. Gardiner, at this point, is not top 4.

So the trade would add 3rd pair defenseman in Holl (big downgrade), 3rd line forward they don’t need and 1 year of Andersen, all using up most, if not all, of their cap space. Sure,, thats a really reasoned-out trade from a CAR perspective

    Please.
