Doubt Danault takes 5 million, he is likely looking at Kevin Hayes type pay day. Also not up to his trade value, MTL will be looking for Timmins and your 1st for him

Graves is a good start but you need to add a better piece than Compher like maybe your 2020 1st (which is a late pick) or Kaut or Newhook

Danault doesn't have the value to bring back a Newhook level prospect and a 1st. He's a defensive C who's only hit 50 points once.

Yes from Tampa. Kadri and Killer would be no fun to play against.

Danault doesn't have the offensive pedigree to demand Hayes money. His production was boosted by playing 1st line minutes and PP1 in Montreal, but as soon as he reverted back to 3C in the playoffs his production dried up.

His dried up playoffs may have just been his role. I think Graves and Kaut gets it done.

If that is what you think then Danault will only be a rental for you cause he is going to want 6+

Habs should resign Danault only if he accepts $6m or less
If he wants $7M Habs should trade him

He produces fine at 5 on 5 to demand Hayes money, he has never played the pp1 and he is one of he best defensive centers in the league. Also think its funny that yo mention offensive pedigree for a guy who has never been above 50 points

Danault has one more 50 point season than Hayes (who has none)

Thanks for pointing that out. For some reason I thought Hayes had been over 50 several times.

I think you're overpaying in the AZ deal and slightly underpaying in the Habs deal. Honestly, if you reversed them, I'm not sure either team would say no. Jost and a #1 (or Timmins) for Danault would be hard to decline.

I can't really speak for AZ, but goalies are an abundant commodity in the NHL these days and Compher and Graves would likely do more for them than Jost and a pick in the late 20s.

Danault costs more. Graves is a really good start but you have to add either a pick or two or a good prospect. Your 2020 1st or Kaut/Bowers

I don't see Zadorov garnering a better return than Killorn would.

Also MTL should just re-sign Danault themselves if he agreed to such a cheap deal.

That's an interesting take. I think Arizona's priority will be to get back picks though, seeing as they don't have many high draft picks in 2020 or 2021. Montreal on the other hand have tonnes of draft picks and capspace so it makes more sense to get roster players rather than picks.

Graves + 2020 1st would be an overpayment. I think you're undervaluing Graves a bit here.

STL's 2nd or Mete & a late pick (I know he doesn't fit your needs but value-wise it would look like this)

Killorn has a 16 team NTC, whereby he can effectively choose his destination since there's only a handful of teams that can actually afford to take him on. The flat cap and Tampa's cap situation doesn't help them either.
