Great trade for TML. Not sure what Jim was thinking tbh. He gave away a solid prospect and a great pick for a player he's hoping can play with Crosby or Malkin.

The funny part is he isn't going to click with Crosby for sure, he may work with Malkin but I think he'll be a disappointing 3rd liner a couple of weeks into the season.

I think its a great trade for Toronto. They essentially got Pittsburgh to give up the same value for Kapanen that they gave for zucker.

The ironic thing was I said kap and zucker were around the same value and I was technically right as both were traded for a top 15 1st. Still zucker is the better player rn

Kapanen is a 15 to 20 goal scorer on just about every NHL team except for PIT and EDM, where Kapanen may score 30 plus goals. Maybe Jim had to out bid EDM or maybe Dubas made Jim believe that he had to out bid EDM?

How does he turn into a 30 goal scorer in Pittsburgh, I can see him succeeding with McDavid due to speed but Crosby and Malkin don't play speed games. Kap sucks along the boards, he sucks in his end and only can go fast in straight lines and doesn't have the skill to dangle and his passing is bad. He's going to disappoint in Pittsburgh
