Description
Trade pieces based on Vogl article

-Thompson benefits from playing alongside Eich, I think he was ready to make an impact before injury
-Take $8m off Chicago's books for Kubalik/Strome
-Blues get cheaper backup option
-Tampa gets higher picks than they would in compensation for Cirelli plus cheap bottom 6 player

-Sabres get stronger in net with Allen, long-needed 2C in Cirelli, flexibility to resign Larsson and add cheap D man to give Bryson time to develop if needed, give cozens skill to develop around in a sheltered role, leave cap space open to extend Dahlin and Joki next offseason

I don't see NSH being interested in Johansson. He takes up too much cap for what he offers and NSH needs to add some top 6 help this off season. They are already tight on cap, so they'll keep the picks and pass. The value is probably fair though, so I'm sure another team would accept the deal. I think Johansson to DAL makes sense if they have the cap space.

It will be tight but the Hawks are definitely going to be able to re-sign both Kubalik and Strome without this garbage.

Saad. Is. Not. A. Cap. Dump.

Hawks pass. If we needed cap help, we could get more for Saad individually along with buying out Maatta and Smith if we needed to. No need to make any bad business decisions

For the 723rd time, the Blues are not taking Hutton. The 7th is meaningless, but the 4th might get you in the mix. Thing is, someone will probably top a 2021 4th with their offer.

That is too much to give up for Cirelli. He is a great player, but the cost is too high. Also Saad is still a very good player Chicago will get a decent return for him if they move him

Cirelli isn't getting dealt, Sergachev and Cernak will be out the door before Cirelli.

Too much for Cirelli, either Asplund and a top 5 protected 2021 1st or just the 2020 1st

As much as I don't like Saad, that isn't a cap dump. That's called filling out your top 6. Also Shaw should be playing next year, so now you're in cap trouble.

You over pay for Cirelli and then what the hell is that Chicago trade? Then you put Saad on the third line? Jeez you’re underrating him.

Id probably drop the 2nd out of there and maybe up the return to 2021 4th instead of 2022. Chicago might be able to buy out some players but Strome and Kubalik along with a starting goalie aren't going to help their situation at all.

I mean, that still makes no sense for Chicago. Saad isnt a cap dump. He's a top 6 player. We arent gonna saddle Saad with a cap dump to reduce his value. We have options. Maatta can be traded or bought out, De Haan can be traded, Smith can be traded or bought out, and if they are confident enough in Delia and Lankinen, as they just showed they were by signing them to 3 year deals, we might not even need to sign a starting goalie, maybe a back up or a 1B, but not a 6 million dollar one. The cap situation isnt as dire as its made out to be. if we buyout smith and maatta, and trade Saad while retaining half his salary, we would be in perfect shape, and thats the worst case scenario, in which we would still get value back for Saad.

You are crazy if you think we are moving Saad, retaining $2M of his cap hit, and getting a 4th only to dump Shaw's cap hit. No way do we need to do that nor would consider such a offer even for a second of time. You haven't done the math obviously, but there are plenty of good AGMs demonstrating how easy it is to sign both Strome and Kubalik (each will be short term bridge deals), grabbing a starting goalie, while having plenty of cap space to do so. Maatta gets traded easily, Smith bought out..that's $6M in cap space. We also could trade one of De haan, Murphy or Saad for assets if need be saving another $4M in cap space. I get you're not a Hawks fan and not up to speed, but try running through the scenario yourself on here or look at some Hawks AGMs to demonstrate how easily we get under the cap.
