This makes no sense at all...

Why would you trade a winger for another top line center?

Did you hit your head when you were young?

leafs downgrade from Marner to Barzal, losing their top RW for a guy that would then be the 3C...and also take a couple of bad vet contracts while adding salary?

nope

I am not sure I get it. Why would the Islanders ever do that? Just to get rid of a control basically? If all things are equal, which they are never, but for argument's sake Marner = Barzal in terms of overall talent and skill, you still always take the center, especially when he's a center as good as Barzal is.

Detroit would do that Leddy trade but not Ladd. Aho and Bellows have little value to us.

I'll do that leddy trade all day long. You might have to give him away but a 1st with him seems a bit too much

Toronto doesn’t need another eight figure salary center, they already have two.

Isles need an elite winger for Barzal, sure, but if we trade away Barzal to get that winger, what’s the point?

I can’t see this trade from either side.

Why would the Leafs play Barzal at 3C , he can play RW and can take faceoffs which is an added bonus with Barzal being a right shot.

I did post for both sides regarding this trade - it actually helps the cap situation for both teams

Barzal also plays RW - when you view the trade from both sides it actually softens the cap stress that both teams are currently in while not downgrading either teams offense.

Not all value is equal and I didn’t say Bellows is valueless. Yes, Detroit is god awful but does that mean we need to be taking on massive 3 year cap dumps for poor value? Marleau was one year and this is 3 years using that as a baseline it’s easy to see that trade is bad for Detroit. Cap space is at an all time premium and I hope we utilize it to get the best futures/prospects.

Well said and your absolutely correct, Leddy would be similar to Marleau as in can still play - Ladd's a dead fish well beyond turning foul - let's change this up a bit - Detroit sends 2022 7th for Leddy Bellows Aho Ladd and 2 1sts

no who else can play RW? Marner who had 94pts last year. No who else shoots right? Marner

Barzal is a 60+pt guy without Tavares. no thanks
