Terrible for Buffalo, one of the worst Eichel trades yet.

Care to explain? Because a bunch of us here already said it’s pretty good and backed ourselves up

That would be Beecher or studnicka.

okay, great. One player they are going to use for the future. Who else you got?

Lol you said he would like it because he’s a bruins fan, so he let you know I wasn’t a bruins fan and I liked it. So like I said, that was a false statement.
I’m sorry I misread that! But it’s still not right lol

I wasn’t talking to “you” as the bruins fan. I was reiterating what I said to him to clarify what I meant. And you twisted my words

Trading away a top 10 player to a division rival is an awful idea. Plus Krejčî wouldn’t waive to come to Buffalo.

Griz is a fantastic top 4 dman that could get even better if he isn’t behind chara and krug.
Zboril can finally excel given the chance.
And krejci is literally and elite center (he makes player around him better, just watch him play) you seem to keep leaving him out

Why would the Sabres trade a top 10 player to a division rival? This trade is irrelevant anyway due to Krejčí NTC, Sabres can get a much better offer from COL, NJD, NYR.

Yes but my point is by the time they are going to be competing again, Krejci is going to be 37. He isnt in their win frame. Grz and Zboril are bottom 4 defensemen on their team because they have Dahlin, Jokiharju, and Samuelsson who all figure to be solid players for them in their future

This is a good explanation. It’s not a bad trade value wise, it’s just doesn’t make sense logically for either team

Flip Krejci to a contender and retain for a good prospect (good GMing)
Give zboril nhl minutes (even if it’s bottom pair)
And give Griz top 4 minutes, great success (Dahlin, Joker, and Samuelson are only 3, that leaves space for a 4th)

but why would he do that when he can just trade eichel for multiple good prospects and not have to deal with that in between step? An eichel trade doesnt happen unless it gives them a top 10 prospect pool. They wouldnt trade him for a player that can help them win now because thats just pointless

As a bruins fan who is incredibly high on grzelcyk, i cannot think of one single reason buffalo would even consider this. Also, what article?

Anyhow, I think this is, of course, a really bad trade for buffalo. I’ve said it before, the only way something like this happens is if Eichel hops on the social media, and announces that because of a family situation requiring him to spend more time at home, he is requesting a trade to Boston, and would only play for Boston. Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense.

For the people in this thread that think this quantity-for-quality offer will do it... it definitely won’t. Eichel is a young STUD center that any team in the league would love to build their franchise around. An acceptable offer for the Sabres will seem like a massive overpay to the fans of the team that trades for him.

Or if Buffalo is smart they’ll keep him and continue the attempt to make the rest of the team better around him.

Quantity is never what matters, but chances are if trading to a top tier team, you arent gonna get one really good player.
So the quality OF the quantity is what makes this trade reasonable.

I dont think either team logically does it, but value wise, its good

I strongly disagree that the value is there for the Sabres. The primary piece in any package deal would need to be a VERY high-end young player like McAvoy. In order for the main piece to be Krejci you’d have to also somehow make him at least ten years younger.

As a Bruins fan, Buffalo is getting bent over in this deal. Eichel is one of the best young centers in the game and this package (while having some nice piece) lacks any kind of franchise type player.

Krejci - pending ufa with a NTC, not much value to Buffalo for a one and done (assuming he doesn't have BUF on his no trade list)

Beecher - middle 6 upside C/LW, but still an unknown

Grz - can be a top 4 d-man, good but doesnt really excel at anything

Zboril - inconsistent d-men who should be a 3rd pairing guy at worst and 2nd pair at best

1st round is most likely a late pick

Not really an exciting package for a franchise alerting player like Eichel

No because Pasta doesnt want to leave the bruins, and the bruins are a cup contender.

If the bruins were a bottom 5 team that needed to trade him away and needed to rebuild, absolutely.

of course not because homer homer homer homer.....

This is an awful trade for BUF there is no way in hell they accept this.

Start with Studnicka, DeBrusk, Vaakanainen and add a roster player or two to lessen the cap difference and a 1st and your in the value ballpark. The above trade is not close at all. 2 D, only 1 of which is NHL proven, 7 mil forward and low B prospect and a very late 1st isn't even 50 % of Eichel's value

Yeah just what a 100pt-club should do 100%-of-the-time...

* Upset the entire apple cart and ship-out 6 or 7 or 8 pieces as players + prospects + futures (as per many comments) for a disgruntled-single-player to fill the #2C hole when the REAL club potential need was the #2RW-hole...

BRILLIANT!
