I'd take that if I was MN. A Foligno/Paquette/Hartman would be a brutal line to play against.

More the top end centers, than the bottom. Strum is on track to fill one of the bottom-6 center spots. But I really do like the thought of that Foligno/Paquette/Hartman 4th line.

why would Gourde waived to Ottawa, probably because Ottawa has a young team and Gourde can be a vet, or some easy opportunities to give a top 6 role to have a better point total

Killorn has a modified one, so he has to go.

Ottawa has a ton of cap space and gourde wont be stuck on the 4th line, so maybe he goes.

Johnson has the yzerman connection and im sure a particular redwings fan will stop by to tell us his sisters hairdressers dog just got accepted to a boarding school in a detroit suburb.

IMO, it’s impossible for Tampa to keep the team together. I think if they don’t win this year, they’ve missed their window.

I could see the Killorn trade, maybe the MIN trade.
The other two, not a chance in hell.
First the logic for TB was always that they sign NTC so they couldn't be moved out their tax bracket because they "signed at a discount"
But there is some serious reality here that both those guys right now are over paid.
But they aren't parting with the money. I could see Seattle taking one in a year, it's a tax haven state. But unless you are moving them within FL, TX or NV, I don't see why either player wants to waive.
It's real money out their pocket.

Yeah, you've definitley put some thought into it, just mentioning that there is other layers that TB will have to consider, I really don't see an easy way out for TB this summer.

The goalie contract is mind boggling knowing this was coming.

A mistake I pray my Leafs don't make (not that Andersen gets close to $9.5M, I'm hoping $6ish is the walk away point).

Tampa is going to have to trade Killorn for picks/prospects. That HAS to happen unless you're trading Kuch or Vasi.

They are also going to have to keep Johnson and Gourde so they'll need to trade from the bucket or Kuch, Vasi, Point, Cirelli, Sergachev to be able to ice a team.

Cirelli I think makes the most sense to move and Tampa could expect a haul back in picks and prospects that they'll need their ELCs to stay competitive. It's the only way unless someone pulls a Labanc and says, don't worry I'll just play for a million bucks this year but seeing how that worked out for him I don't see anybody doing that.

he's already got his big contract he doesn't need as much points really. If I were him I'd rather live in Florida and go for the cup

I don’t think a 2nd rounder is enough to entice Ottawa to take on Gourde. It’s a decent contract to take on so I think they would ask for more than a 2nd rounder. Really hard to say how much luck TB will have getting guys to waive their NTC this is gonna be a tall task to keep everyone.

You are right, if they manage to move our significant salary, there depth in the Bottom 6 will be Edmonton bad, if they can't move those guys, they will lose Sergachev and Cirelli and their depth will again be really lessened. For all the praise Yzerman gets, he created a disaster cap situation that no one blames him for.

Why would Detroit give up a 2nd and a 3rd for a 30yr old. They wouldn't Detroit passes.

Getting guys to waive NTCs is pretty easy. Demotion to the AHL (they don't have NMCs), benching, line demotions. I'm positive they would all waive for someone.

Especially not the 32OA pick. I can see them sending a late 2nd (just a single pick) for Johnson, but not the early one. None of these guys are going to return full value, everyone knows what TBL is up against.

You've overpaid both Cirelli and Serg, not by much on Serg but at least 500k to a million on Cirelli. Killorn will easily return more than a 2nd and 6th, so Tampa quickly declines that trade. After Killorn, Paquette and likely Coburn are moved, Tampa will either decide whether to trade Cernak(and likely get some rhd help back through one of the trades), or keep him and continue to play Serg on the left. Tampa only has to move out 1 of Johnson/Gourde/Palat, so their F depth is far from gutted in the bottom 6. This is already in place in large part from the Coleman and Goodrow deals, plus it is quite possible Tampa keeps Maroon and gets one more bottom 6 guy through one of the several trades they'll be making, or they just promote 1 or 2 guys from within the organization that are likely NHL ready. Overall though, ita very wishful thinking that Tampa's window is closed after this year or that Vasi's contract(although overpaid by 1-2 million) has sunk the team.

They can't be benched or demoted in the off-season when all of this needs to be solved.

Also as someone else mentioned. All of these guys signed these deals in a tax-free state, depending on where they get traded, they would have less $$ in their pocket.

They can be demoted in the offseason, but cannot bench someone. And TBL can go until opening day 2020-2021 at 10% over the cap without any issues. Cap is not in effect until the end of the preseason (typically the day before opening day).

Well aware of all this being a Leaf fan. Point being the "punishments" you mention have pretty much zero effect over the off-season which is when bodies will need to be moved, and RFAs need to be signed.
