so let me get this straight, the leafs give up two players AND a first AND they get to buy out a guy for Chicago just for Connor Murphy?

I knew the Murphy hype was bad, but this is exceptionally bad

It's the RHD fascination,,,,,get one at any cost. And the silliness that Dermot could be traded later. Leafs don't have enough NHL Dman to trading any.
Just my thought that the Leafs will better without Reilly, Muzzin and Dermot on LTIR. (yea I know injuries happen). Plus Barrie and Ceci won't be on the team....that should help.

I like Connor Murphy a lot. Not at that price though. That is an absolutely terrible trade for the Leafs. Hard no!

Johnsson and Engvall for Murphy, or Johnsson alone for Murphy and Smith if there is a buyout, is understandable, but this is irrational.

Why Spezza making league minimum in all proposals. Has he not played well enough to get a bump in salary?

If Wallmark is willing to sign a contract like that, why does Florida give up a player who basically produces the same as Kerfoot, but only cost half as much against the cap? Adding in the 2020 3rd round pick just takes this trade from questionable to totally unrealistic.

I have always said the Dermott was the game changer for the Leafs when he was called up to the Leafs and showed he could play last year. He is much better and actually has much higher ceiling than most people on CapFriendly understand. He is a defenseman that Leafs need to stay patient and hold as he is going to take his game to the next level.

what a lot of people seem to forget now is Nylander is learning LW and he actually has been doing pretty good as a LW so keefe may move him there which gives the team more flexibility with its wing depth. For a while I have been thinking of reuniting the tavares line and implementing a new matthews line (Nylander-Matthews-Kapenan) this will allow barbanov to play 3rd line RW. Also robertson should not be on the roster next season. He is not ready. Being good in the OHL does not make u ready for the big times. A year or 2 in Ligaa or another european league will be the better option for him.

However with those trades. Acquiring Murphy for that much over-payment meh, would rather move dermott for someone like cernak, mayfield, roy, etc. But the florida trade is ok
