Send Offers for Domi or Poehling

Description
Montreal has too many centers. With Danault, KK, Suzuki, and Evans, plus Vejdemo & others coming up, Montreal doesn’t have room for all these C. Send offers for Domi and/or Poehling, that your team would do, and you think the habs would do.

An ideal return centers around a winger, prospect/NHL player, doesn’t matter. Would rather a quality player in return, rather than a bunch of picks/lower prospects, since Montreal already has tonnes of those.

The trade would obviously be happening in the offseason.

But we don’t want Dmen. The habs need wingers, their defense is pretty much set in stone for the next while now. Specifically if we’re trading Domi, ideally it’s a hockey trade with a team that needs a Center, and has too many wingers, so it benefits both teams.

This is just a rough estimate of a contract so I can put him on the team. For the habs, I don’t see the use in signing him to a bridge, since looking at the bridges over the past year, I doubt his AAV would be much lower.

yeah but i wouldn't put bet everything on Brook, Norlinder or Juulsen. Let them develop properly. Romanov is the only that's close to NHL ready but then again, they're not "1 Romanov" from having a contending D-Core.

That doesn’t fit our needs whatsoever. The habs need to trade away centers, not bring them in.

MTL needs wingers? What? Seems to me like you guys have too many wingers and are lacking top 6 centers. Isnt Domi a winger anyway?

You’re also trading 2 of them for one who’d be your 1st line center.

I can't see the Habs do this considering the draft is "in Montreal" and the fact that it's a lottery pick. I also can't see CBJ give up their #1 center in PLD no matter what.

It all depends on contract... If PLD is a pain to sign like Marner, Nylander and Anderson were the last few years getting then maybe Columbus says they don’t want the headache.

Also it could be a 2021 1st... but thing MTL would have to add a 3rd as a top 10 pick is much more valuable then a 20+ pick.

So right now you have Weber and Petry, who are locked in on the right side for the next while. Then you can put Fleury, Brook, Juulsen, or whoever on the other RD spot. On the left side, we need one great defender, since we have a bunch of good, but not great defenseman in Mete, Chiarot, Kulak, etc. IMO, one or both of Romanov/Norlinder can become that great defenseman. I don’t think we should try to fill that role before either of them get a chance to prove themselves. Worst case scenario, neither of them do, and we trade for one then. But I’d like to give them a chance first.

huff
Domi sucks on the wing. We already have Danault, Domi, and Suzuki as top 6 centers, and KK will be one in the future. Ideally we can get a winger, since most of the ones we have are flexible as to which side they play on.

But we’re also giving up the chance to draft a high end winger or defenseman. Plus we already have enough top 6 centers.

Top 6 center isn’t a 1st line center.... also you can make it a 2021 1st if you add a 2020 3rd or something.

PLD>> Danault, Suzuki and KK... now you can also trade one of them to get a top pair LHD....

Now that the cap isn't going up like it was supposed to, the market has shrunk for domi. How many teams can afford the 6+ million he'll want without a cap increase?

Yeah that first statement doesn't reflect well in the second quote. Let's not kid ourselves, having a "set in stone" defense isn't about throwing 11 names in a hat and saying they're set sorry.
What's set in stone as of now in Montreal;
XXXX - Weber
XXXX - Petry
XXXX - XXXX

What would it be if I fit two more according to their skillset;
XXXX - Weber
Chiarot - Petry
Romanov - XXXX

Chiarot is good on a first pairing but would be an excellent 2nd pairing guy with a more offensive partner. So even now we've got two holes left that could be filled by 7 other players from your quote. Maybe we'll be set in stone 1 year or 2 from now when (IF) our prospect flourish (Romanov, Norlinder, Harris, Fleury, Juulsen) but to start the season nothing's set.

Agreed 1000%

The last thing Montreal needs is wingers. The need is abundantly clear. Top LHD, bottom RHD (Not as important but I would like a solid defensive dman to take mins away from Weber and Petry on the PK) and a veteran backup goalie. MTL's offense was NOT the problem this past year. Its wasn't the greatest but definitely wasn't the problem.

Habs need a couple defenseman that can skate. Join a rush. Habs have wingers. They are young and getting better. That blueline is pylons lining the 401.

That's why in most of my ACGM I'm trying to get Shattenkirk to sign here, what a right side we'd have. As for the top left side I think we should just be patient or the alternative to trade non-core forward for defensive help could be used if they really want to accelerate the process (But then who fills in up front?).
