Description
D Core is officially fixed. Now would Trouba actually sign with the Leafs? That's a different story.
And now that Carolina is on this insane run... Are they willing to make any trades?

The team is cap compliant at least.... Haha

You guys realize that Pesce is their number 3 dman right? Great dman on an excellent contract. But he plays number 3 minutes on Carolina. He isn't a god. Nylander was world championship mvp a few years back who has great possession numbers and is highly exciting. He had a down few months, but he is highly valuable and still has another level. It's not as far fetched as you guys would think. The biggest thing preventing this trade would be that Carolina doesn't want to break apart a good thing they have going. But they are D-Loaded and could get a nice return for one of their guys.

This isn't real life anyways.

Nylander played 54 games and had 27 points and comes with a $7M cap hit; anybody taking Nylander at this rate is gambling. Pesce is a top 3 or top 4 at worst D guy on most teams and comes with a $4M cap hit. Nylander for Pesce is even.

This is when I wish we could do stars, because it isn’t too bad. The Pesce trade is awful but the rest isn’t bad. That being said Trouba won’t sign long term in either city because Winnipeg and Toronto are in Canada, and (from what I’ve heard, but don’t quote me on it) his dad can’t go into Canada to watch him play and would miss most of his games like he does now, the reason he wants to play in the states. Also Pesce has played so well this offseason that I doubt he gets moved. Also Nylander has no trade value after an awful season. Yes this isn’t a few years ago when people could care what he’s done. It’s what have you done for me lately. I’d say it’s a 3 star work.

Stop it. That’s like saying, oh, Nylander is the fourth best offensive player on the leafs, who cares about that? Well, the three guys ahead of him are just really really good. Pesce is worth way more than Nylander at this point in time.

Pesce is not going anywhere if the Canes need a winger or center they can get one July 1st, why do they need to move Pesce? him and Slavin have formed one of the leagues best shutdown pairs. He is on a bargain of a contract. Leaf fans just keep overvaluing there players as usual. Trouba does not want to play in Canada.

That would be like saying Matthews (or marner) is only Toronto's 3rd best forward, so they are worth less in a trade.

Not how it works

Well if Pesce is Canes third best forward, Nylander is let's count.....Leafs Tavares, Marner, Matthews, Hyman, tied with Kapanen, Johnsson, Kadri...makes Nylander the 6th or 7th Leafs best forward. Easy pass by the Canes. Maybe it was fair trade last summer but not now.

Yep. If style points counted, Nylander wins. Actual production and overall results on the ice, Hyman is clearly better.

Nylander has outscored Hyman every single season except for this past one. Nylander's advanced stats are miles better. He had one bad season and he's a worse player?

Glad you mentioned Nylander stats, I'll discard last season. So he's a 20/40/60 player. That included lots of PP minutes. Hyman 20/20/40 player with no PP time and also a PK player. The reality is there isn't that much difference in their offensive totals if given equal opportunities. Plus the the good factors that Hyman brings to the game. So you might be able to convince me Nylander is a marginally better player but for 2.4m and 6.96 cap hits, obviously Nylander is less value. Hope for cap reasons, Nylander is the one to go this summer.

Nylander was 20/40/60 for his first 2 seasons, ages 20 and 21. Hyman was 10/20/30 and 15/25/40, ages 24 and 25. Hyman might be a 20/20/40 player, and paying him 2.4 is a good deal, but he's no Nylander. Willy just turned 23 and while he did have a horrible season, his ADVANCED stats are much better than Hyman's. Points aren't everything. Just this past season, regular season and playoffs, only 5v5 so taking out PP and PK as you mentioned, Nylander's Corsi%, RelativeCorsi% and GoalsFor% are much better than Hyman, and his ExpectedGoalsFor% was slightly better. I'll give it to you, Hyman's PointsPer60 were slightly better, but as I mentioned Nylander had a horrible season points wise. Nylander clearly drives play better than Hyman. Nylander's shooting percentage was half of his career average, whereas Hyman's shooting percentage was almost double his career average. Hyman played with Marner and Tavares the entire season, Nylander played some with Matthews but spent the majority of the Season with Kadri and Marleau/Brown. If Nylander plays with Matthews for the full season next year he'll be a minimum 75 point player, while only 23 years old. Hyman turns 27 next month and had a career year, he's not going to get better than his 20/20/40. So now tell me who's more valueable

Why do keep mentioning the past season for Nylander. I'm talking about the seasons when they both Hyman and Nylander played with Matthews. Again for some reason you think Nylander is a minimum 75 point guy when he shown no proof of being that.
OK, I know I not going to win the argument when someone is so impressed with style and potential. Sorry Nylander contract is a disaster. His play is good when he's on his game. The Leafs once they sign all their RFAs are about 7m over cap. Nylander has to go...with no cap returned , just so the Leafs can be cap compliant. Who's more valuable on the ice....I know it's subjective..but it's really close. Who have more value...Hyman by far.
