If Marner stops scoring immediately and Ontario becomes tax free, then yes

Oranges to apples. No state tax in Vegas, it would be like 12-13 million in Toronto.. he would get above 10.

ANA probably declines. The value is there, but ANA would literally have no NHL-tier RHDs after that trade - their best RHDs would be Dotchin and Welinski.

I think almost all those Marner proposals are outrageous. Even this deal, lower than some makes makes him the third highest paid winger in the league. Of course the Leafs have started their own precedent by overpaying their RFAs.

How is that possible? The difference is top tax paid on personal tax is 16%. You somehow make it 20 to 30 %. Of course in the US tax is calculated WHERE you earned you money, not so in Canada.
Plus players (entertainers) do not pay personal tax rate on their total income in Canada It's really false narrative these personal tax rates.

Looks like after the Leafs overpay all their star players than they'll have to double shift them all on the 4th line and carry only a 16 player roster, problem solved.

Using 10 mil:

Vegas: 6.335 mil
Toronto: 4.685 mil

That is ~1.65 mil difference. To equal Stone Marner would have to get 11.1 mil.

Using cap friendly tax calculator.

It's not the worst offer, but the Ducks aren't going to roll out 6 left handed defenseman in the starting lineup, which they would have to do if they traded Manson. Murray just said today that they want to add another defenseman like Manson, so I doubt he's going to trade Manson away.

Stone for me is about the 5th best winger or so in the league. Marner doesn't crack my top 10. Also there's the RFA v UFA comparison. Marner shouldn't even cost 8m imo.

Very astute, and absolutely true. Plus, the last thing Anaheim needs is another right-handed forward. Now, Kapanen and Zaitsev for Pesce . . .

marner put up more points this year than any year stone has ever played in the NHL. If Stones contract is the model you want, watch what you wish for, you might get it.

I'll take your word that that is personal tax rate. In the US, don't people pay tax on where they earn their money. So when Vegas plays in California they pay California tax, Some cities have income tax.
Why does Marner pay the Ontario tax rate? I know people that have had their "residence" in Alberta when the tax rates were lower despite working in Ontario and paid Alberta tax rates. Plus in Canada, their is incorporation for much of this income especially on higher earners. We never hear about Blue Jays and Raptors demanding more money for tax reasons for playing in Canada, but for some reason the personal tax rates seem to be so important for CapFriendly followers. As I said, the posted personal tax rates are a false narrative, but to those who want to believe them, good for them.

Using the tax calculator on this site. used Jack Eichel, making 10 mil, and compared Vegas to Toronto.

Stone is overrated, has he notched his first 30 goal season yet?
I'd take Marner over Stone any day.

Sure because not having a 30 goal season totally outweighs him being captain material and undoubtedly the best defensive winger in the league

When you're getting $9.5 million AAV I think it does, plenty of good defensive wingers/captain material that cost far less.

the base for Marner is the contract the leafs signed Matthews for. Since he is a winger I could see a slightly lower salary but not a lot. So it woud be about 10mil for 5 years. If you want 7 or 8 years it would be more like 12 or 13
