Have a sit down with scheifele and see what he’s feeling. I think he stays if the jets express intentions to compete for a cup after a quick retool. Maybe even making playoffs next year. Scheifele agrees to a 5x9M legacy extension (goes till he's 36).

Helly gets moved to DET for the 9 oa and husso. While husso has been okay, Yzerman has expressed intentions on upgrading the goaltending. Top 3 goaltenders don't become available everyday and would speed up the rebuilding process in Detroit. With their recent signings and upcoming young guys like raymond, kasper, and seider, they are an up-and-coming team, which gives helly incentive to sign. While it would be good for Detroit to keep the top 10 pick, it's also not hard for them to bring in free agents or trade, so they should be able to take the hit. With helly, they also don't need Husso at his salary so he is sent the other way. Also, helly at 6. years allows him to mentor cossa and eventually take over. Husso waives to come to a playoff team (after some convincing from Jets players like we've seen in the past).

Demelo replaces a lot of what carlo does, without the size factor, while also providing more offense. However, since size is a factor in the NHL and contract status, carlo carries slightly more value. PLD is a good 1B centre with 1A potential if he can be a little more consistent. While he wants to test FA, a good outlook in Boston on a competing team might convince him to stay after talking to a few teams. Swayman is also included. He's an up and coming goalie who might grown into a starter to help replace helly. Also, with the current cap situation, boston simply can't afford both ullmark and swayman without subtracting from their roster elsewhere. Additionally, Ullmark has a 16 team NTC, which allows him to make himself essentially untradeable. At the end of the day, the bruins need a top 6 center more than they need carlo and Swayman who are currently role players rather than difference makers. Additionally, demelo helps offset carlo's loss. That was my thought process. Since the B's are facing a cap crunch, the last part is probably especially valuable to them. Reilly is a cap dump, that we can agree. This will not only move that contract, but also add a chisholm who can play 3rd pair ld/rd, thereby allowing them to move forbort/gryzleck as well.

Mantha is a cap dump, but i think he could bounce back or at least provide 3rd line mins. The jets cant attract UFA's right now so the jets take Iorio to help their RD depth and move up a round to take mantha off Washington's hands.

Wheeler gets a hometown sendoff. Arizona retains 2M as a 3rd team to get a 3rd and the jets pick up foligno.

Swayman is signed 6x5M. The first couple of years he tandems with husso, then he takes over while mentoring Dom DiVincetiis hopefully. Toews comes home to either help perfetti transition to centre or play with Scheifele and Ehlers on the top line. Lambert makes the team and Samberg is given a well-earned shot in the top 4. Hopefully, he can stabilize pionk's game a bit. Finally, schmidt is moved to allow for heinola to come up.

A word of caution, but a lot of these trades involve 2023 picks. That means chevy has to make 6 trades in the next month, which is very unlikely. Therefore, the only trade that should be made before the draft is the helly trade.

Jets draft Dvorksy and the best player available at 9 and 19 oa.
