I truly do not want to move Bjorkstrand. His contract is the exact type of asset that a team against the cap dreams of.

I think you're thinking of Turcotte. Byfield is still one of the top prospects in the league and started playing a bit more for LA last year. I doubt they would trade him.

I love Bjorkstrand and think he's on a great contract, but the Jackets also have:
1. a glut of forwards
2. a clear need to improve down the middle
3. room to improve on the blueline
4. a need to get under the cap (although I think they do that by moving Gus first)

I also don't want to move him, but I think Voracek is, as of right now, a more impactful play-driver, and that there needs to be room in the top six for Johnson.

As for Byfield, I'm sure he still has a ton of trade value (two ELC years, high pick, size and skill) and I think he and Sillinger would make an elite 1-2 punch down the middle in a few years (if Johnson stays at wing).

The only way we could fit Bjorkstrand in due to our cap situation (we'll have less than 0.6 million after re-signing Anderson and Durzi) would be for you to take Alex Iafallo on the way back, which would also require another roster move on our part. And no, we're not trading Byfield. Bjorkstrand is a very good player on a good contract and we would have been interested in him before acquiring Kevin Fiala, but unfortunately the time for your trade is past.

Don’t like the Chychrun trade and LA declines. Wouldn’t mind going for Turcotte, but Byfield would be as untouchable as Johnson for us or Laf for the Rags.
