CBJ decline. I don't see them going for Marner and that is not enough to entice them to let go of Johnson.

TBL offseason moves v7
If Mateychuk really impresses and they get someone like Brenden Dillon in the off-season, I can see CBJ trading Provorov with 50 % retention to TBL for at least a 1st before the start of the season. I see the proposed trade as something for the TDL, since I'd imagine that they'd want to keep Danforth at least until the TDL, unless they think that he can be replaced by Brindley. My guess would be that they would like to keep Danforth and have Brindley in the AHL to start with.
All in all, I think it's a good trade for Columbus and Tampa Bay, though I imagine that this particular suggestion is more likely to take place at the TDL. But you never know.

An Outsiders Vision - CBJ
Pretty solid. I would just switch Sillinger and Jenner.
I think they absolutely have to add a vet dman like Tinordi on a one year deal this year to support the young guys and provide some depth.
My one (or two) wish(es) would be finding an upgrade for Laine and/or Merzlikins.

CBJ Marner
Thinking Marner even waives to CBJ is just pure delusion.
But the trade is so bad for CBJ. Wouldn't CBJ be so much better keeping 1m Jirikek and then spend 10m on UFAs rather than one year of Marner

Easy. jiricek and silayev. That’s a dominant top pair for the next decade. Not to mention the jackets have werenski and mateychuk too. Could be the best top 4 in the league if they pan out

Marner will not waive, especially not to cbus. He also isnt worth Jiricek 1 for 1, let alone adding KJ. A marner trade to the jackets just doesnt make any sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FarhanLuigi</b></div><div>Sillinger is a 3rd liner at best. Greaves is a goalie and Jiricek is the only worthwhile prospect but not close to the value of the best goal scorer in the league. Try again.
Not enough for Marner. Columbus toxic org and their fans already tried and failed an offer sheet. Doubt Mitch wants to go to another loser franchise.
The funniest part is giving a career high 30 point player term 5M AAV LMAO</div></div>
Is this your bit? Gaslight opposing fans and disparage the franchise and city? It's every ACGM I've ever seen you comment on. It's pathetic. Do literally anything else with your life.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>This just shows you how much you understand about the Jackets. The last thing the Jackets need to do is move a potential 2C in a package that includes our potential cornerstone RD for a player like Marner, while he is good, is not any better than what we already have with Laine. We also have Gaudreau, Chinakhov, Johnson, and Marchenko on the wings. Marner makes no sense.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Yeah, all those idiot Jackets fans should be thrilled at the idea of watching their prospect pool get gutted for the Leafs' castaways. Why should they want to watch the Jackets try to develop a roster through drafting like almost every other team around the league does? Know your place and cheer for the Jackets to trade the young players you're excited for so they can miss the playoffs while also having no future.</div></div>
Don't waste your time, add to the ignore list and move on.

Scenario
The problem with Marner-to-Columbus is primarily that we already have two top-line high value large contract wingers and cannot afford a 3rd. That basically translates to y'all having to take back Laine as part of the value you'd be getting back. Gudbranson isn't acceptable as a cap offset because we actually make regular use of him and he's been surprisingly effective as a bottom-pairing guy and mentor.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>True true, i just thought it was something fun to explore considering the next best thing for the sharks would be to draft his brother. Even in this draft i don’t t know id trade 2 overall for Jiricek. I also wouldnt sleep on Parekh or Buium, although Jiricek obviously has a much much higher floor.</div></div>
Parekh or Buium, or even Silayev, might be on the same level in terms of ceiling. The reason I didn't include them is playstyle and handedness. We're set to have at least 2 offensive-minded, playmaking D-men for a long time with Werenski and Mateychuk, and possibly a 3rd if you include Boqvist.
Drafting undersized offensive D-men that would be the 3rd option on the powerplay and possibly on the left side (Parekh, Buium), or just forcing someone to play on the off-side (Silayev) isn't really a Jiricek replacement. It's not a reason to not draft those people if they're BPA at 4OA, but it is absolutely a reason to hang onto your currently-irreplaceable prospect.

That's probably fair value for Chinakhov, but breaking up the Siberian Trio is not going to win you many friends among Jackets fans here. :)
Also, Pageau to the Preds is dubious because that problem contract also coincides with the years when the Duchene buyout dead cap gets <strong>really</strong> ugly.

A Mutually Worked-Out Marner to CBJ Trade - TOR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>If only Marner didn't have that pesky NMC.</div></div>
That's why it would be contingent on Marner waiving for Columbus. Leafs fans seem hellbent on sending him here anyway, it's not that much of a stretch of the imagination to think he'd be okay with being the highest-paid player on an up-and-coming team that should be pushing for the playoffs at the start of his extension.

You be the judge
CBJ absolutely decline. Spence is good, and Turcotte might turn into a middle-sixer, but undersized puck-moving defensemen and underperforming young forwards are exactly what Columbus has an excess of.
Jiricek is still a top-10 NHL-affiliated prospect. After this draft, he'll likely still be a top-10 NHL-affiliated prospect. He's nearly untouchable, and certainly not moving to LA for anything less than Byfield or Clarke.

Marner trades that make some sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T0R</b></div><div>You’re Definitely closer & I understand your point so i’ll raise my own, what about Merzlinkins 50% retained?, I know he has what 2-3 more years, it would only be 2.7 in retention & he has shown the ability to perform at the NHL level previously, it's just that was 2-3 years ago but I think it is fair to place that on the team around him more than just his abilities as a Tendy & with Woll being a 50/50 & no real upgrade available unless the Leafs get Saros from Nashville for Mitch (which negates this whole thing lol), I think Merzlinkins would be someone Brad would look to acquire in this deal as well so
KJ+Laine+ Provorov 50%+ Merzlinkins 50% for MM + Liljegren + a 4th</div></div>
Haha I like how we're inching closer!
Elvis is kind of a prime buyout candidate, he's a decent 1B who has shown flashes, but he's been inconsistent. Honestly, he is the type of personality that would THRIVE in the Toronto spotlight. The only hangups on retaining are that a buyout is ~$1M cheaper per year (minus year 3 where it's ~$200K more expensive) and we'd be eating up a retention spot for 3 years. Merzlikins you could have for free, but with retention it's probably a mid-rounder in value coming back.
That said, the more I think about it, Liljegren is a good offset for Elvis. He's more valuable than a retained Elvis, but also redundant on a Columbus team that already has Jiricek, Severson, Gudbranson, and especially Boqvist on the right side. If he's in the deal because of salary and value, I think that's fine, but he doesn't add too much to Columbus in terms of need. Columbus almost certainly moves him or Boqvist (or both) for additional picks.
Overall, I think KJ + Laine + Provorov @50% + Elvis @50% for Marner + Lilly + a 4th would work, anything else would really be tinkering around the edges. Now we just have to submit it to the rest of the fanbases for approval. :)

Marner trades that make some sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>The biggest issue I'd have with that is that Provorov feels like the most-likely piece to be moved (i.e. "not a part of the long-term future"), where Mateychuk is penciled in as 2LD behind Werenski...forever. Would it make more sense to just send Provorov as part of that deal over Mateychuk? The Leafs would get a solid two-way 2LD that can play in all situations and stays healthy, who also fits the same age window/timeline of the core while Columbus keeps the younger guy who fits our timeline.
Columbus would retain half on Provorov, and I don't know that we even need retention on Marner if Laine is going the other way. I get the philosophy for 4OA, but 1) just because we have a stacked prospect pool isn't a reason to give away additional quality pieces, 2) you're already getting two pieces like that in Johnson and Laine in this deal (5OA and 2OA) and 3) I don't think this team is a Marner away from competing. There's so many pieces that still mature, we'd be looking at a 6ish year window starting in 2 years with both Marner and the 4OA selection.
Keeping Provorov and adding Marner would be win-now moves for a team that can't win now, given the age of half the roster. We still need maturation and growth to get there. I think if it got to KJ + Laine <em>and</em> Mateychuk/4OA, Columbus balks and just says send him elsewhere (which Toronto would very much have every right to do).
I could see KJ + Laine + Provorov (50% retained) for Marner + pick, probably anywhere from 2nd round to 4th round. Are we getting closer?</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T0R</b></div><div>The thing is I can see Trelicing pushing heavily for Mateychuk especially since the Jackets left side is kinda full with Provorov & Werenski or that 4th overall pick to get Sam Dickinson or one of the other incredible D prospects,
So I would say Final deal would be
Mitch Marner 25% & a pick (you decide that) for Kent Johnson, Patrick Laine & Mateychuk or Pick #4, I’ll explain my philosophy with giving up Pick number 4 basically you have a stacked prospect pool & Mitch Marner is a Top 10 Winger in hockey at his best, which is the ceiling of almost anyone picked around that spot but another guy I can think of that also makes sense is Merzlinkins due to the Leafs goaltending situation</div></div>
