Why? The jackets already have the better nylander brother.
In all seriousness if the jackets can’t get one of levshunov, lindstrom, or demidov I’m all for trading the pick for nylander

Laine
unless Laine has told Columbus he explicitly wants out and they're trying to do right by him, I don't see why Columbus would be in any rush to trade him, certainly not for a package like that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>westcoasthabslifer</b></div><div>2 - Say the very people who continue to post on Habs’ fans posts for literally no reason. It’s incredibly annoying. </div></div>
My dude, you can’t come on this website and propose a CBJ trade (whether from you or another source), then get upset when CBJ fans post a reaction shooting it down. How would that work vice-a-versa?
This just feels like a ****tier version of the old “I’m just asking questions” argument as a means to avoid having to address the underlying issue. Here - that as much as Habs fans (or I guess, Habs beat-writers) want these trades to happen, they absolutely will not, and to sell ads and brain-space on the idea they could happen is disingenuous.
The frustration mostly is that this is not just a universally bad trade, but one <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/820755?post_id=4811193">we’ve been telling you to stop making</a> for awhile now.

Stupid overreaction marner trade for fun
Marner is literally actively tanking his own value. He is also a rental with a full NTC and Columbus is a bottom 3 team in the league this season. Marner would never waive there and Columbus would never consider a deal like this

Seems like half the time I log into the Athletic I read an article and then seriously consider canceling my subscription before realizing it’s only a few bucks for a good laugh.
… Those Johnson and Zegras trades make this one of those times.

That is about the dumbest idea ever. Yeah the Jackets give up a budding young potentially superstar player just to rid themselves of a contract they could just as easily buyout…

The level of us not wanting Anderson is to the point that I don't think the Winnipeg first even covers his negative value.

Lol, sure. 20 y/o players with 220 games under their belt and a solid 2-way game are just so common. You go be happy with a 23 oa pick in 2026.

Heck of a price to pay for RFA rights (especially since it guarantees Philly gets our 2nd <strong>this</strong> year), but Necas is worth it.

Ranking first overall picks since 2000
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DanielSan92</b></div><div>I guess the point isn't getting across...
McDavid being stuck with a **** GM who can't build a team around him doesn't make Crosby the better player.</div></div>
McDavid has proven he can be the best player in the league during the regular season. There is no argument there.
My argument is McDavid will be considered a better player than Crosby when he wins a cup and a conn smythe.
The ultimate goal of any pick is to win a cup. The highest award in the game of Hockey is the Stanley Cup, which Sidney Crosby has won 3 times, 2 of which he was considered the best player during those 32 wins, he did that on back-to-back seasons, something never done in the history of the game.
Point totals, longevity of career, hardware, and cups should all be important when discussing a player being hall-of-fame worthy. Every name other than McDavid on that top-5 has won a cup. I just want to see a guy in his prime win a cup before I say he's the best draft pick in 25 years.

Big no on Voronkov. Would have to be a solid NHLer coming back in the trade to even consider moving him.

Idk which is worse…giving up that entire package for Marner as a rental, or giving up that entire package so we get the privilege of paying him $13M until he’s 36.
EDIT: And knowing his production will be halved because he doesn't have Matthews or Tavares passing him the puck.

Columbus isn't trading Jiricek and a top 5 pick for another winger. If Marner was a natural center, maybe they'd consider moving the pick

Turning every team into a playoff team
I wouldn't mind taking a risk on Laine, him and Barzal could go crazy but neither team does this for very different reasons. Columbus won't sell low on him and if Laine does get traded it will definitely be his last shot to prove himself

Thank you for actually seeing that part of this exercise.
Someone is going to move for him at some point. The hypothetical of him returning to hockey, being 26 years old and an elite top 6 forward is still there.

Deadline mania
Absolutely not a snowball's chance in hell from the Jackets. You've got the picks going the wrong way and even then it's an easy no; the idea behind Provorov being here is that he's a stopgap we'll eventually move on from to make room for developing kids, and instead you have us committing much more cap space and money and more term to someone who's basically the same except he's smaller and has a concerning injury history.

Dream scenario
It's a real bad look for a team coming off a sexual assault scandal to then go and offer sheet a player currently under investigation (and suspended by the league) for sexual assault.
I know you're not a Chicago fan, but both of these things are common knowledge around the league, and this is distasteful.

Sillinger Offersheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Oh, it was absolutely rushed. No "a bit" about it. He benefited his rookie year from being Voracek's personal center. Then the next year Jake suffered his final concussion in Finland and LTIRed (and just officially retired this week), and Sillinger proceeded to have a dreadful sophomore slump. This year, he rebounded and was arguably the team's best center by the end of the season, usable in all situations. He's probably still a 3C on a good team with an optimistic Cirelli comp, but defensively reliable centers who can play up or down the lineup as needed are definitely worth 5.5 mill. Columbus also is historically starved of centers, so I think while 5.5 for his first RFA deal feels high, the org would be pretty motivated to keep him.
Also I do not think the Flyers should be risking that first.</div></div>
Interesting, appreciate the insight. I definitely agree the Flyers shouldn't risk the 2025 1st in any way shape or form, the East was crazy volatile this year and the chance for regression to a lottery team is fairly significant next year.
Fantilli-Sillinger-Voronkov has the potential to be a really great Center group IMO
