<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>Severe.. alright buddy lol so lets go through them shall we?
Start from last one.. Sparks is backup who posted better number than Oilers backup last year and almost as good as their starter. He would be cheap backup and to get him for 4th liner is fine value.
Zaitsev is gonna get nice return. His 4.5x5 contract is gonna look good after many overpayments on july 1st. His value is likely 3rd pairing Dman and mid-range pick (maybe 4th not 3rd but thats not severe overvalue). No sweetener needed.
Ive seen last year for how much Skinner got dealt. Brown is equivalent to Burakovsky. Maybe lower ceiling but he is better defensively than Bura. He would cost 2nd at least with how much they spent on Burakovsky and similar players. 2nd is reasonable so basically 2 2nds and 3rd for guy that is otherwise hitting FA because they wouldnt be re-signing him. Thats fair price and they get top-9 forward and PKer as well.
How is getting 4D and 3C for top-6 C who scored back to back 30 goals overvaluying? LMAO stop it..</div></div>

I will start with the trade I feel is closest to fair. Kadri did not score 30 last year, he scored 16. He will be 29 when the season starts, he is constantly a - player, so he is far from a shut down center. He has shown to be hot headed and make decisions on the ice in important games. He is a good 3C, and that is what he will be if he went to Calgary in this trade (Backland Monahan being top 2 centers) Jankowski is 4 years younger and only scored 2 less goals than Kadri this year, and I don't even consider him the main piece of the Calgary trade. A top 4 right D for Toronto is worth a lot. Toronto fans have to stop valuing Kadri of 2-4 years ago and realize he is quite likely not going to hit those numbers, last year's performance, give or take some, will be the expected going forward.

Zaitsev is a cap dump, everyone knows it. His value is next to nothing. TSN reported this week Toronto would likely have to add a draft pick to move him. You have a 3rd round pick and a RD who outperformed him in half a season coming back. Zaitsev is not worth either of those on their own, expecting both back is ridiculous. You claim he has good value, if so why is every Toronto fan wanting to trade him despite he being the only RHD with experience on the club? Every team knows Toronto still has a cap crunch and that Zaitsev one of the players they are trying to move, so that puts Toronto at a further disadvantage. This reminds me exactly of Marleau, as soon as Toronto fans heard that teams were calling and asking about his availability, they thought they would get some tangible assets for him, when in reality teams were finding out exactly what compensation they would get for taking that contract. And we saw how that cap dump turned out.

8 goal, bottom 6 forward Brown and a couple of picks for another top 4 RD. Again, Toronto fans remembering the career year of one of their players, and not how that player has been trending recently. Faulk will get more than that and I have seen many Toronto fans suggest trades for him, and I am not sure if I recall any offering up so little. Again, Brown is one of the players at top of the list for Toronto to move to help with Cap, so dealing from a position of weakness for this player.

Not sure if it is even worth my effort to discuss Sparks. He played terrible last year and might (big might) fetch a 7th pick to a team willing to take a long term gamble on him. GAA over 3, save % of 902. Just because Edmonton had a huge pile of crap in net doesn't mean they will be happy with a little less huge pile of crap in net and give up a prospect for it, it means they will look for at least an adequate goaltender.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Panarin will be signed by the time the offersheet comes in.

I’ve heard so much speculation from every direction... it’s ridiculous. If we use the nylander calculator 8.5m turned into 7m so does that mean we will get marner for 8.8m lol.

I think marner on an 8 year deal at 11m is still an overpay compared to the contracts signed last year. Can only hope we see some rfa’s sign before him to help set the market right. But if it takes 11m then you have to pay it and find a way. Hopefully we can get that knocked down a few 100k though.</div></div>

Panarin could sign in Toronto on July 1 and Marner can sit there and wait till he gets his offer sheet or Toronto trades him. They don't have to have Marner done before that. They'll probably give him a hard number and say they can't go higher than it before the draft, if he says he won't take it then shift the focus to Panarin or another big free agent and move Marner. At minimum he's bring back 4 1st round picks or high quality players. He needs to stop being so greedy. He's the poster boy for everything and has all his endorsements on the side, he's getting his money. Reports had it out there that he was getting free rent last season in a downtown condo that wasn't cheap. How much more money does he need? .. IMO, Leafs give him a hard offer around $10M, term is variable. If he says no then he's not coming back next season and he'll be the most hated ex-Leaf probably ever
