lineup Game 5
I don't see them playing Kamenev after being out for months it doesn't make sense to just throw him into a playoff series for his first game action unless there's a rash of injuries

If Tyson Jost is their 2C next year the rest of the league is in trouble because that means he will have gotten a lot better. Right now he's been playing on the 4th line and has played really well despite terrible line mates and they're tied 2-2 in a second round playoff series. If he jumps Soderberg, Kerfoot, etc. and lives up to his potential plus they add Skinner, Girard, Makar and Zadorov take another step forward with all the prospects they'll still have this team will be set up better than anyone in the NHL to dominate for the next 10 years.

It's tempting to do that but I feel like it would be smarter to do a mini rebuild. You have a strong young core in Jones, Werenski, Dubois, Anderson, Texeria, Bjorkstrand, Jenner, and Dzingel, Atkinson and Foligno in their prime. That's a solid team no matter what (if this young goalie can be solid), you're still gonna compete for the playoffs but you can use the cap space to supplement it with prospects.

I like there your nucleus so I don’t think you can really go bad either way. Maybe a nyquist, pavelski on a couple short deals and take another shot probably need a buy on a tender maybe quick out of la depending on how crazy of a contract</div></div>
I think it'd be smarter to use that cap space to take on cap dumps and replenish your assets that way.

Teams don't trade top 5 picks, getting a top 5 talent on an ELC is extremely valuable. The farm system is deep but doesn't have a high end forward prospect which this pick will address.

I'm very intrigued by that EJ trade. I understand what you're saying about Girard but gosh you don't want to give him up this summer after seeing him and Makar together the last couple games. Think you're a little low on the Skinner deal but a little high on Z and Francouz so probably evens out.

I like the idea, don't think Wilson will come back honestly and would rather give Kamenev and Greer the opportunity plus Kaut and Bowers if they prove they're ready. If they can't get a Panarin or Skinner though I'd explore a Barrie trade for a high end forward. They're also gonna get something for Kerfoot in this scenario. Don't know if Timmins will be ready right away but they have Barberio and Graves as good placeholders.

Well yeah but they're trying to build a high end second line and top 5 picks are extremely valuable especially factoring in the ELC

Yeah but 4 overall is a huge difference from 16th. Marchessault is definitely the type of player they need to build the second line, but you have a good chance of getting a franchise changer at 4.

Game 4 Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>milehigh11</b></div><div>I was always on the trade Barrie bandwagon since he would net us back the most value. But he has looked good in the playoffs. EJ needs to go after this season. Only has a modified no trade clause need to trade him ASAp as I dont think I can take another 4 years of watching him.</div></div>
I think they should definitely explore it but the fact is he's a captain and has been an important leader on this team, so even with his declining play it's not as simple as just getting rid of him. I do agree with Cole and Z there to provide a physical presence and Timmins and Meloche possibly coming and Graves there too, it would make sense, but it's not an easy decision. Might also come out that he's hiding an injury, which is why you can't overrate playoff performance versus the entire season

Those trades make zero sense for the other teams. I'm not against trading EJ but I don't think the market for him will be anywhere near what you'd hope for.

You act like pavelski for 4 years is worse than bringing in Panera in for 10 million a year for 7 years</div></div>
a 27-year old who's put up a point a game his whole career for 10 mil for 7 years is absolutely better than a 34-year old who's a worse offensive player (better defensive for sure) who btw is also already the captain for his old team and is way less likely to leave.

Avs On The Clock
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moli92</b></div><div>Overall I agree with most signings and think this is a pretty realistic outlook for the Avs but I would make a few minor changes
1. This has already been mentioned but keep Soderberg and swap him with Turcotte for 2C
2. I don't think Kaut will make the NHL next year. I would rather keep him in the AHL for another season so he can improve more and have Greer move into a full time 4th line role
3. I would sign Andrighetto to a 1 year deal to be the 13th forward and to fill Kaut's roster spot. The season after next he can walk as a free agent and hopefully Kaut will be more NHL ready
4. I think Kerfoot gets a bit less than 4M but thats a very minor detail so I'll just forget about it
Also as a plan B if Panarin doesn't sign then Skinner would be great also. If this happens then the Avs could also likely afford another depth forward (I have my eye on Donskoi)</div></div>
I think the wish list goes Panarin, Skinner, Hayes, Ferland in that order. Don't see Ghetto coming back, he's not even playing over Bourque rn. Kaut may not make the NHL team out of camp but he should be on the team by the end of the year, Bowers might be too.

Yeah I definitely wanted to fire him after the 48 point year but think he’s definitely learned from his mistakes of bringing in old guys to try and be band aids (though Roy probably had something to do with that too), but he’s had the perfect mindset the last two years and obviously hit a home run with the Duchene trade

I love this, Edmonton should jump all over it though their fans seem to way overvalue RNH. Personally I'd rather see them let Wilson walk and give Jost and Greer more of a chance, plus I think you're a tad low on the Z and Francouz contracts.

lines for game 1 vs Sharks
I like it but think they'd go with soderberg and Wilson on the second line. Wilson was pretty good last series and Soderberg was good in games 4&5. I wonder if they'd put Z with Barrie and Cole with Makar too, but Cole was so good in round 1 I think they want to play him on the second pairing at least.
