I think you nailed it, hitting both teams needs in one deal. And I attempted to find a complaint and couldn’t, but other than colorado adding Byram to the stable of young stud dmen

Your not going to get OTTs 1st, may be the COL 1st, for that. Especially, since VGK are in little bit of a cap crunch.

Why wouldn't that get OTTs 1st? Not enough value from Vegas's end? I think Colorado has a deep and talented farm system so they can afford to drop 13 spots and give up Barrie for two good forwards.

Except this in no way addresses the VGK cap issues...they need to clear about $8 mil.

Vegas clears 2.25 million with this deal. Dealing Reaves, Holden, and Miller will cover the rest.

Teams don't trade top 5 picks, getting a top 5 talent on an ELC is extremely valuable. The farm system is deep but doesn't have a high end forward prospect which this pick will address.

Teams trade top 5 picks if the offer is right. And I think this is a reasonable offer for the pick especially since Colorado will still get 2 first rounders.

Maybe it’s karlsson or smith instead of Haula or march, there’s a combination, that I think works, and makes some cap space and room for tuch and glass for a higher role, and also increases the top 6 depth on colorado

Would Smith instead of March get it done? Or would it have to be Karlsson?

Vegas couldnt give up both centres, so it would have to be a smith karllson or March karllson, sorta deal to keep depth up the middle in Vegas, if colorado ends up in the cup, I could see it buying thinking there a player or two away

Got it. Those prices may be a little too steep for Vegas, but they do need to cut cap.

Too much change for a problem that can be solved in other ways much easier. IMO.

Its like if Toronto needed to cut cap to be able to sign Marner, they went ahead and traded Matthews and Tavares.....

Vegas wants to cut cap yes but they need to do so without touching their core players as much as possible. Colorado gets a nice forward in March but loses Barrie and the 4th overall pick. For what? to get a couple better forwards? I don't see the need for this. They get what they need on the free agent market and they can trade Barrie alone for something they need.

Colorado gets 2 better forwards and the 17th pick. Plus they will still have enough money to go get Skinner, Hayes, Duchene, or someone else. Vegas gets cap relief, the 4th pick, and a good Dman. I think although both teams lose a little bit, it would improve both. Win Win.

You are probably right though. It can be solved in easier ways, this is just a solution I think would be exciting.

I think this summer might be one to set records as far as deals go, I could see half the league involved wpg, Nash, chi, veg, pit, tor, fla, Tb, Ana, lake and possibly min all looking to move a 4 plus million player off there payroll

Yea but teams are likely to try and clear their space in as few deals as they can. You can’t guarantee the next trade you want to make will be able to get done.

For sure I could see a few blockbusters or multiple trades with the same trading partners this summer

Thats a lot for COL to give up for a small offensive upgrade. I would rather keep Barrie and the 4th overall pick and add forward depth via UFA instead
