Revamped 4th Line
Martinook - Lazar - Lafferty might be the best 4th line in the show. Hill would be an amazing get for them too if they can pry him away from Vegas

only realistic Zegras trade
I feel like the Ducks would want roster players back for Zegras, no? Selling him for futures just elongates the already lengthy rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>That is not true in the least bit. Jones has not complained. He was asked a question in his interview a few weeks ago about how he feels after being traded to CHI not expecting a rebuild. And that is the ONLY time he ever publicly expressed any displeasure with "the teams status". And he also went on to say how excited he was about the rebuild and the progress and the players who are on their way and what he has done to try to bring the kids along. You just made that whole thing up about Jones.</div></div>
"If I could have seen 3 months into the future (when I got here)…I didn’t want to be in a rebuild when I left Columbus…we want to be one of those teams that are all on the same page, working towards a common goal. Everyone wants winners." - Seth Jones
Didnt make anything up. He basically implied he wouldnt have committed to the team if he knew they'd be bad. Thats on him and thats awfully negative coming from somebody who said he wanted to be a captain. Hawks should make him happy and send him to a contending team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JK74</b></div><div>I admire your restraint with the FA signings. It's refreshing for sure and I appreciate that. I think Demidov is their pick at #2 although I've been on record about how much of a good fit I believe Levshunov would be here. As for the Jones trade, I think Chicago would pass. I like Marner but Jones fits in well here even if he is overpaid. I don't think Davidson moved up in the draft to spend those assets on a one year rental.</div></div>
The Hawks have done extensive scouting on Levshunov and they could really use a blue chip RHD prospect in the system especially if theyre gonna try to move off of Jones. I could see a Demidov pick as well, I just think Levshunov makes too much sense for them.
The thing about Jones is not really the money. He's done nothing but complain about the team's status and he doesn't really seem to be bought into what they're doing. So I disagree, I dont think hes a good fit anymore. And to comment on your apprehensions about a rental, I think the only way a Marner deal gets done is if they have assurance he'll sign an extension.

Promote Tulsky to GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>I'd assume it would be for a different look in net with a younger goaltender, but that's fair. I don't see Columbus trading for a goaltender unless it's part of an Elvis trade specifically to avoid a buyout; Tarasov and Greaves are going to get the nod next season, so as a team likely not competing, we'd just sign a UFA vet to be the NHL backup and let Greaves play in the AHL until there's an injury.</div></div>
Honestly I dont think its a horrible idea for them to just run with Elvis again next year. They dont need that cap relief yet and he could very well return to form. And, like you said, theyre probably not competing next year anyway. I like Elvis. I hope he turns it around.

Promote Tulsky to GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>If you're looking to ship out Andersen in a goalie swap, Columbus would like to talk. Elvis isn't Ullmark by any stretch, but he has proven to be a capable starter in the past, he's just struggled with being in a tandem recently behind one of the worst defenses in the league.
I could see Freddy-for-Elvis one-for-one, no retention necessary on Freddy, and CBJ retain $2M on Elvis to get the contracts to work. He just badly needs a change of scenery, and that option is preferable to a buyout IMO.</div></div>
Not sure why the Canes would do a 1-for-1 for a worse goalie, even at the same dollar amount. It would make more sense for both teams if Jackets traded for Freddy and then either dealt Elvis somewhere else or bought him out

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fullblowncaniac90</b></div><div>If Andersen was being dealt, I would like another goalie coming back in some form. Like if we were to trade for Ullmark. Idk how far that goalie tandem would get us. Outside of that, Lindholm probably gets a little more and Blake is more likely to make the roster than Gunler.</div></div>
I don't think the salary would work if they tried to bring in Ullmark, unless they were able to move off of one of Orlov, Staal, or Fast (which creates other depth issues). And yeah i probably undersold what Lindholm will make. Lets call it 7M per season. they could still make that work

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hckeydude123</b></div><div>Would the Kings be interested in Freddy? Yeah probably, but certainly not at 3.4m so unless 50% is retained you'd have to shop him somewhere else. Kings could resign a familiar face in Talbot for far less than Freddy and get similar production out of him without having to give anything up at all.</div></div>
Sure, i could see the Canes retaining a bit. However I think they'd rather add a bit more to the package than retain salary. 3.4M for 1 year wouldnt sink the Kings by any means

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>QualityTrades1</b></div><div>Lets blame everything on Anderson! The Leafs did it and now they’re much better!</div></div>
Not blaming him at all. He had a wonderful end to the regular season and was good against NYI. But lets face it. He gets injured often, he wasn't very good against NYR, and you wanna hand the reins to PK at some point. Plus the salary relief would help them address other issues.

You gotta get KK off somehow. Nobody's gonna take a $5M 4th liner for 6 more years unless you make it worth their while. a mid 20s pick is really a small price to pay for that relief.
NJ says no?? They desperately need a goalie and Schmid proved he's not gonna help them anytime soon. I thought if anything that was underselling Andersen's value to them.
The Jarvis/Necas deals are so hard to judge. I could see Jarvis getting bridged or going long term. Necas had a bit of a down year but we know what he's capable of. And so does he.
Don't underestimate Carrier. He's got strong underlying numbers and played big minutes for a decent Preds team. And Chatfield proved he can handle a lot of responsibility.

Realistically speaking, a Hamilton currently playing less than stellar will not fetch a 1st *and* a top 6 F on a stacked Leafs front end. Also, Kap is a free agent next season, and the Canes wouldn't have the capital to sign him to a deal longer than a bridge.
In trading two RHD in Hamilton and TVR, Oleksiak (being a RHD himself) makes more sense for the return from PIT, especially considering that Rust really wouldn't have a spot in the top 6, which is less than ideal for his cap hit.

As a Canes guy, I think that's a fair return for Ferdaddy. He'd look great on that 2nd line.
