heck no to the first deal.

NJ says no to the 2nd

jarvis gets more. Necas should get less. The defense will get handled in the playoffs, especially that right side.

Lets blame everything on Anderson! The Leafs did it and now they’re much better!

You gotta get KK off somehow. Nobody's gonna take a $5M 4th liner for 6 more years unless you make it worth their while. a mid 20s pick is really a small price to pay for that relief.

NJ says no?? They desperately need a goalie and Schmid proved he's not gonna help them anytime soon. I thought if anything that was underselling Andersen's value to them.

The Jarvis/Necas deals are so hard to judge. I could see Jarvis getting bridged or going long term. Necas had a bit of a down year but we know what he's capable of. And so does he.

Don't underestimate Carrier. He's got strong underlying numbers and played big minutes for a decent Preds team. And Chatfield proved he can handle a lot of responsibility.

Not blaming him at all. He had a wonderful end to the regular season and was good against NYI. But lets face it. He gets injured often, he wasn't very good against NYR, and you wanna hand the reins to PK at some point. Plus the salary relief would help them address other issues.

They won’t use a 1st to dump Kotkaniemi. If they can’t find a taker for him, the buyout is much more palatable

I would wait until the 2026 summer buyout period. Then we would still get the U26 buyout at 1/3rd cost and reduce the term of the buyout by a couple years. Also gives him time to possibly rebound and become a more useful player.

Yeah, I mentioned that in another ACGM recently. His salary over the next two years is almost as much as the full cost of the buyout this summer so it would all come down to whether or not the Hawks think he can rebound and/or not block some of the kids coming up.

I don’t have the emotional energy left to comment too much here, but two quick items -

Big regrets the second you sign Necas to $8m x any term, let alone 8 years.

What in the world has Necas done to deserve more money than Jarvis?

I’d be potentially interested in Andersen but not at that price for an aging goalie with injury concerns

Ya know... Judging from the exit interviews with KD and others, I think the experiment of "leaving space for the kids" could be over. I think from here on out, the kids are going to have to TAKE the spot if they want it. Roster competition should elevate their games. I think the more important consideration is just making sure we don't get into any long term unmovable contracts. They will still leave a reasonable amount of space, but handing out jobs that haven't been earned is a recipe for subpar play and could create complacency and turn into a losing culture.

That I agree with but I think with the prospects in the system and the amount of picks coming up, there will be plenty of competition the next few years.

For sure. They also talk about "the winning culture starts in Rockford". Outside of a few players that could make quick jumps, I think they are going to let the depth pile up and really simmer down there until they prove otherwise. I think they want a calder cup too.

Fine by me. Last thing we need is another GM rushing guys to the NHL before they're ready.

Maybe Kochetkov would be more suitable for that package?

Exactly my thoughts! Two years coincides with the expiration of Bedard's ELC (and others); KK will perhaps get until then to possibly rebound. If he doesn't, it's an easy buyout at that point. I'm not really worried about him blocking any of the kids, at this point (and probably for the upcoming two years); Hawks have a LOT of holes to fill up front.
