<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OilednGreasy</b></div><div>It's so hard to say. I don't think Edmonton would use Zadina in the top 6 either and he may be to expensive in their bottom 6. A lot will depend on how badly the Oilers need cap space when Bouchard, McLeod, and Kostin agree to contracts.
The possibility of Yamamoto only costing $1,950,000 if sent to the AHL is a consideration too. Would a team take him off waivers, or does his trade value go up if he can be sent down? I think that's what Holland should do first.
I do believe the Oilers could find a better UFA for cheaper than Zadina's cap hit though, and if that player costs less than $1,391,666 (Zadina - Yams buyout) a trade wouldn't be worth it.</div></div>
Agree with all your points. Logical reasoning.
Side note regarding top 6 role... if EDM were to acquire Zadina for whatever reason, I would love to see them try Hyman - McDavid- Zadina. All the attention would be on Hyman & McD, allowing Zadina more time and space to get his shot off. His Finishing % has been piss poor but I think part of that is low quality line mates. It would be very interesting to see if he could pull it off with higher quality guys.
I know EDM has tried this before with lower level players on Connor's wing without luck, but it's worth a shot if they acquired him anyway.

less than ideal but addressing needs
I love this for DET. Does Myers suck? Absolutely. But he would have been 3rd on our team this year in blocked shots and top 10 in hits (effectively replacing Hronek in that category). Limit his TOI to 3rd pair instead of 21 mins ATOI and you might have a decent 3rd pair option in Myers.
Also, the contract is extremely buyout-friendly. $5.3M this upcoming year and only $333k in 24-25. I'll easily take that buyout to move up to 11.

Anywayyyy, do you think a Zadina for Yamamoto trade is remotely possible? I don't really want to get rid of Zadina, but seeing that they won't give him more minutes than bottom 6, I just think a change of scenery would heavily benefit him. And, honestly, I only targeted Yams because of the buyout rumors (which I think would be silly of EDM to do, but I'll play with the rumor while it lasts).

Z's defensive measures aren't terrible if you consider the team. Not far off from Yam, actually.
DET had 15.4% GA over this same date range vs EDM (7.3% more in just the 22-23 season). Z's CA/60 was 9.6% worse than Yam's over that range. If you limit to only this past season (because 21-22 in DET was a defensive wreck), Z's CA/60 is 7.5% better than Yam's.
Considering xGA/60, they're nearly identical. Also consider that Z had slightly more defensive zone starts/60 so I would argue that his coach relied on him more defensively than Yam's did.

This is mine. My posts are generally intended for discussion purposes, not to argue about how much better my players are lol. I generally take feedback through the discussion then update the trade or post a different one. I like to think I'm less ignorant than many of the other DET fans on here.

We'll keep our bust with phenomenal underlying numbers + a 2nd and they can keep Yamamoto.
I like Suter, but i realize we are stuffed at depth. Would hate to see him go, but think it's necessary to make headroom for our younger guys. Wouldn't give Gudas 5M either.</div></div>
Yam also has good underlying numbers, but needs to put on some muscle.
Suter is a good player, and I wouldn't let him walk because we have very little depth at C.
Gudas was given $5M to entice him to step away from a good team in a warm climate.

I don't think SK101 was trying to be rude here, so no need to take offense. SJ's pool was rated 17th best in the NHL at the start of this year by The Athletic, with only one player rated in the top 50 prospects (Eklund at 23). I don't think SK is wrong in saying that SJ could certainly benefit from having a few additional pieces from Detroit's 4th ranked pool.

I'm not a fan of the ARI trade. I feel like you can get a guy with nearly Keller's ceiling around 9oa this year, and that Schmaltz won't cost a significant amount. Giving up Ed and 9oa in this trade is way too much for me.

We've seen from teams like VGK & FLA that teams can Gamble with big deals in the 10M range on 3 players. The question is: Is CC one of your big 3?
It's not a simple question to answer, because making a mistake on 1 of those 3 is the difference between the Florida Panthers when Bob is at his best and the Florida Panthers when Bob is in the press box.
Is CC a top 3 player on this team or is he trade bait?</div></div>
And that's a question I'll leave to MTL fans, since I'm not one. :)

I agree with what jonh514 is saying. Personally, I'm not a MTL fan, and I'm not NEARLY as high on him as most everybody else. I don't think he's all that special. But if MTL does, then they need to gamble on a long-term contract or try to sell high on him with a shorter term deal which keeps him RFA.

I've already included 4 1sts (Ed + Cossa + 2x 1sts) and a potential top 6 player in the deal. Detroit is not adding more beyond that, though the trade could be modified within reason. Also, trading a draft pick within a month of drafting them is quite a bad look from a personnel perspective.

I would buyout Chiarot the following summer for $3.67M, Vrana provides an extra $2.625M, Perron falls off for $4.75M, and the cap is expected to rise a great amount. That's around $17M in space before the cap rise.
I think it could be figured out, as you could have 9oa from 2023 join the team as Perron's replacement ($950k), give AM $2M extra, give Seider an increase of $8M, have WW replace Schenn (+1.1M), and give Ras an extra $2M. That leaves $5M to give as a raise to Raymond (suppose you could bridge him for $5M x 2) then any cap increase can be split as a raise between a backup goalie (+1.6M to 2.85M AAV) and Roy (+1.9M to 5M AAV) assuming a >3.5M rise to the cap ceiling which is lower than expected.

This trade would set Detroit up for years of success, especially considering we still have 9oa pick this year and Wallinder coming up the pipeline.

It'd have to be good picks and a good prospect, something PHI cant turn down. 2023 NYI 1st, a Mazur or a Kasper and maybe a bit more. Koneckny is just 25, signed at 5.5mil for 2 more years and probably his value goes up, not down, and hes the exact player you build a team with and young enough to produce through the rebuild.</div></div>
Fabbri having term should alleviate your concern of Kuba not having term. Plus Fabbri is better all around them Kuba.
