Van Riemsdyk, Laughton, Voracek, Lehtera, Raffl, Weise, Simmonds, MacDonald, Folin, Gudas, a LHD, and all the pending UFA goalies won't have jobs within 2-3 years. Most can be sold at the deadline with retained salary this year and next, but as incredibly deep as this prospect pool is, there seems to be a shortage in RWs. What are your thoughts on trading a LW prospect (you are loaded on that side) and a pending 1-2 year UFA for a RW? A guy like Kapanen immediately comes to mind, but I'm sure there's others around the league. If you guys won the second lottery and got Kakko you'd be more than set for the future - the depth of this team never stops amazing me.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>Price isn't really struggling, he's just not 100% himself. I never said that Mete didn't create offense, I want to see him on the scoreboard. 89 straight unlucky games? Yes he's not a dud offensively, or he wouldn't be putting up the oiSH% and GF/60 that he is this year and the points that he put up in the OHL, short AHL term, and WJC. I don't think he's bad, I just think he's going to be an average to slightly above average 2LHD.</div></div>
Price definitely was struggling. He had a below .900 for the first 2 months of the season, only lately has he turned it on, and because of that, we went from being a WC team to a threat in the Atlantic. Yes 89 unlucky games, his ability to not score has become a Meme in Montreal. 2 goals called back, countless points, super unlucky bounces, anything you can name, has happened to him. Watch a single Montreal game and you will understand what I am talking about, there is a reason he is playing beside Weber, because he compliments him very well. He has some of the smoothest skating you will see in the NHL and he is wicked fast. I have no problem agreeing with you that he will only become an above average 2LHD, but to say he won't become a top 4 defensemen is absurd.

Ooooookay, hold on there <a href="/users/NucksFanForLife" target="_blank">@NucksFanForLife</a> , Motte is my BOY! I think he has a real chance to become a high end checking line/PK type of guy,, the ones that make a big impact on Stanley Cup runs! So lets cool the jets on trading him just yet :P
As for the trade at hand, <a href="/users/Eli" target="_blank">@Eli</a> The Canucks scream yes before WSH changes their mind. Gagner is loaned to the Marlies in the AHL, Goldobin is as good as gone already, the coach has no trust in him. This is a huge win for the Nucks imo.

The moment the Habs are back in the playoffs, there's a belief of getting assets for a "quick-fix". They should focus on keeping their young prospects. Don't forget that the team is coming from a 2 out 3 years of missing the playoffs which means the Habs have been INCONSISTENT.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>Well done for Faksa. We’ll give you Tanev, we’ll give you Pouliot, and we’ll give you Hutton if the deal is really sweet, but Stetcher isn’t going anywhere. The value is good, but he’s the only proven young RHD in our system. He can play top line minutes and has been great defensively this year, and has held down the fort when Tanev was out. I doubt he’ll be moved. A deal for him would have to start with Bowey and go from there. It’s an overpay but Benning won’t move the needle on him unless it is one. You’ll be better off getting Jensen.</div></div>
Thanks, re: Faksa. I think it's win-win, but something tells me some Dallas fans on here are not really keen on trading him anywhere. Couldn't have anything to do with some Pittsburgh fans pretending they'd trade Brassard and a 1st for him, though? Boy would I love to see that happen for Dallas. But mostly for Washington.
I'd be happy with Motte, Virtanen, or Hutton. Had Motte in an earlier comment, but <a href="/users/playercoachreggiedunlop" target="_blank">@playercoachreggiedunlop</a> said Motte was untradable, but Stecher could be had if I added a good prospect. Had Virtanen in an offer the other day, but <a href="/users/sedin33" target="_blank">@sedin33</a> said he doesn't like Burakovsky that much. Talk amongst yourselves?
Tanev is a beast, who could really get Niskanen's and Carlson's minutes down, but his cap hit wouldn't work, and then even if they cleared space for him, he'd skate right off into the sunset as a UFA.
People tell me I overrate Burakovsky when I think the Caps could get some long term assets for him, but he's eighth in his draft class in career goals. He had three in the last week. I think he's decent, and still has potential to be pretty good.

It's not like Pettersson doesn't have any Swedish speaking left wings with playoff experience to mentor him, in Vancouer, just none with as much.

Nah. Have to demote Siegenthaler and give Bowey some big minutes. That part is awkward, but having a fifth line could help in back to backs. :)
In another thread I'm working on Dowd+Connolly for Faksa (who I think is both of them, in one player), which brings back Siegenthaler.

Like an A - A+ winger. Hughes is better than Kakko IMO. I doubt you’ll have this issue, as Philly will more likely pick second than first, and even at third, Podkolzin is a great option. If you guys end up doing really well for the rest of the year, you can still pick a guy like Krebs or Zegras.</div></div>
Personally I hope we don't go on a run because there is zero chance we make the playoffs.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey44</b></div><div>I much rather have Kakko then Hughes. especially in this situation. Hughes is going to be similar to Larkin in points and play. I don't think he will be a franchise center. Top six max</div></div>

I look at Gagner as a 50/50 gamble to make the Caps. He either fits in at #2C pretty quickly, or they might cut him after a couple weeks, in which case they've traded Burakovsky and a checking wing who leads their forwards in corsi for Goldobin and a little bit of salary cap baggage through next year.
If Gagner works out, as I hope he will, each team ends up making a top six player out of someone who didn't fit on the other team's top six, both teams get better, both teams get a feel good story out of it, and the Canucks have moved out half of Gagner's salary, without the long term cap effects of a buyout.
If this doesn't work for Vancouver, what on Earth would?</div></div>
I think Vancouver would do this deal.

Ottawa Trade with Tampa 2019-2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>Few people do, but it’s overhyped IMO. The term is annoying, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t retain a bit on him. He’s still a thirty point D who can play well in the bottom four. That’s not too bad. He’s overpayed by about 3.5-4 million. Ryan is overpayed by the same amount. Retain 1-2 million on Seabrook for the term and it should be an even trade. You might even get an A prospect for doing the trade.</div></div>
If they do that, might be worth it from Ottawa especially if they pick up a prospect. Just dont see it as a fit from either side. Could see Chicago paying Seattle to pick Seabrook during the expansion draft IMO

Seriously given how weak the Oilers group of forwards are after McD, RNH and Drai this would be a minor tweak worth trying considering minor tweaks is all Chiarelli is doing to try and improve this subpar roster. Edmonton could easily throw in a 6th or 7th round pick to get it done.

Fair enough, I think it benefits Carolina in the fact that scoring is what they need. Rask was 100% better defensively, but overall I think Neiderreiter is still the better player in this trade.

They help give players like that an opportunity. Still, Hartman was scoring at Goldobin's rate and got quite a haul. If you are a young roster player who can put up decent points, your value is higher than prospects who are still in the AHL. I love Kuokkanen as a player, and I'd honestly risk trading Goldobin straight up for him, but his value isn't as high as his potential. Would you trade Saarela and Poturalski for Goldobin?</div></div>
I would trade both of them for Goldobin. I dont think Potualski makes it to the NHL, Saarela could be a third liner. Thats just what I see.

Panarinbread man comes back makes Black hawks great again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksFanForLife</b></div><div>I doubt that the Hawks really have much competition with Panarin. LA doesn’t have the cap space, and also because of cap reasons NYR can’t offer him the 10 million that Chicago could. They’ve got a lot more flexibility than either of those teams. Plus, neither can offer playing with Patrick Kane. That in and of itself is reason to sign. And could you imagine if the Hawks got Hughes? Panarin would be a lock in Chicago. Playing with Hughes and Kane is an opportunity that few can offer.</div></div>
I think any team will massage their cap space to get Panarin. NY (Islanders or Rangers), LA (Kings or Ducks), Chicago, and Tampa are all destinations Panarin is looking at. I agree today, Hawks have the best shot with current cap space. Also agree, Panarin would play on a line with Kane again anytime...they had amazing chemistry and that's not always easy to find even for an elite player like Panarin. Panarin alsoloved living in Chicago and has said Chicago is very high on his list. I think Chicago has the best shot at him but it's far from a done deal and wouldn't be surprised is it doesn't happen. I give it a 35% chance of happening.
Kakko, Hughes or even Cozens on a line with Kane and Panarin would be incredible.
