Overpay for Goldobin but the rask for Anisimov trade basis I like although I still think it's an overpay

Maybe a bit of an over pay for goldobin, but its more for them to take Rask.

The AA Rask trade is indeed interesting. It was rumored that years ago CHI was interested in Victor Rask. I'm not sure if that was a Q preference or Bowman. Ultimately, I think CHI would pull the trigger if the rumors were about Bowman looking into Rask. If it was Q...probably not because we need Colliton guys now. For me, the hard part is that Rask will still cost $3.5M for 3.5 more years. It's a risk, but I do see the 2nd and 4th which ultimately IMO would make up for that risk.

Why are we trading Kuokkanen (a prospect on the rise) plus picks for Goldobin (a player who hasn’t performed at NHL level when given opportunity). Kuokkanen needs more time in AHL and could make impact next year, or he should be included in a trade package for a better player (hoping for Vlad STL).

Both teams say yes. You could even just do Kuokkanen and a second or third for Goldy.

Unpopular Opinion: Kuokkanen is over rated.

If he’s ‘overrated’ then why are we advocating selling low. My point is more the value of the trade, and less the quality of the players. You are agreeing we should trade an overvalued prospect and picks for an unproven commodity. Bad asset management.

How is he unproven?? Has played over 40 games this season and has 23 points... which would rank about 5th on the Canes atm. Goldobin < Kuok

Zero points in 11 games and he's a playmaker. Not saying that he'll never be good, but an just because you light up the AHL doesn't mean that you have a ton of value. Goldy scored more in the AHL than Kuokkanen and so did Mangiapane. Don't get me wrong, Kuokkanen is solid, and probably an A prospect, but until you can score at an NHL level, AHL scoring doesn't give you much value. Goldobin hasn't been a stud, but he's on track for 40+ points.

Clark Bishop and Brock McGinn, sometimes you need good players to produce, at minimum players who can produce in their own right. He's a playmaker and neither can finish

He hasn't got an ideal start in the NHL, I agree. Neither has Mangiapane. Which is why I like expansion teams. They help give players like that an opportunity. Still, Hartman was scoring at Goldobin's rate and got quite a haul. If you are a young roster player who can put up decent points, your value is higher than prospects who are still in the AHL. I love Kuokkanen as a player, and I'd honestly risk trading Goldobin straight up for him, but his value isn't as high as his potential. Would you trade Saarela and Poturalski for Goldobin?

I would trade both of them for Goldobin. I dont think Potualski makes it to the NHL, Saarela could be a third liner. Thats just what I see.
