USA - Under the Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Paying Hughes 7 million on this roster is such a waste. Fox has clear dibs on top PP duties, making Hughes kind of useless. Then you’ve got mcavoy who i think everyone would agree is head and shoulders above Hughes at 2.1 less, playing the right side, allowing slavin to play his natural left side. Seems like a no brainer. If Hughes was on his entry level, I still don’t think he has any use on a team that has Fox on it.
Grzelcyk is a good player at good value, but you can do better
The blueline here costs 20.837M
With that you could roll out:
Fox (925k)
Mcavoy (4.9)
Slavin (5.3)
Pesce (4.025)
Suter (3.625)
Any 2 million dollar RD you want
So much better</div></div>
I was trying to fit in McAvoy (I can tell you're a fan), but the Hughes contract definitely made that hard. I disagree that having Fox and Hughes would be a bad thing. I'm in the camp of the more skilled elite puck movers the better. Yes it would be better if he was on ELC. Had Pesce in original choices too. Suter is past his prime IMO, but thats a solid lineup you rolled out.

Had him in an initial lineup! I'd say he's not as good as Arvidsson (maybe more upside considering age) but could prob replace Rakell.

Swedish Team - Under the Cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garb66</b></div><div>No Bäckström or William Karlsson? Backie is elite. W Karlsson was the cup condender Golden Knights best forward in the playoffs this year. Check out this super interesting article about an advanced analytics selection of a Swedish roster:
https://www.expectedbuffalo.com/expected-buffalo-face-off-2022-sweden-olympic-roster-analyics/</div></div>
Definitely both would be on an Olympic team! Kept off Backie for his 9.2mill cap hit, and likewise for Karlsson who I think slots in on this team as a 3rd C. Exercise was to keep it under the cap, so hard choices to leave off. Would be curious to see a team you build with Backstrom and Karlsson on, who would you leave off?

Rebuilding with a 24 year old goalie sounds like a decent move to me. They have Kane, Karlsson, Hertl, Couture right now so there's still a lot of potential for that team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>Yeah I don't think the Rangers are going to go for that, they most likely got better deals at the deadlines. But I mean why should the Rangers deal Georgiev, they've expressed they want to keep him and the opposite of Lundqvist. Besides, over the last 2 seasons Georgiev is a top 10 goalie among those who've faced 2000 shots.
<a href="https://ibb.co/fn30gB2" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/vQNzFgH/Screen-Shot-2020-05-06-at-4-21-55-PM.png" alt="Screen-Shot-2020-05-06-at-4-21-55-PM"></a></div></div>
Well personally, I will be very disappointed if the Rangers buyout Lundqvist but I know that option is on the table. Georgiev being a "top 10 goalie" only helps my position on this trade from the San Jose fans perspective. Anyways we're just having fun on here

We could sign a better goalie in free agency without giving anyone up</div></div>
Besides Holtby (who is 31), Lehner (29) and Markstrom (30) the UFA market isn't that attractive and they're all old. I honestly don't know enough about Dahlen just wanted a winger back in the trade and I know he's supposed to be good. Is the potential of securing a longterm number 1 goalie for a winger prospect and a 2nd too much to give up on a team desperate for the position? Maybe? But goalie is the hardest position to find in this league.

NYR 2019 Rebuild stage 2
Thanks man, I hadn't done a direct stage 1 or anything, was thinking of this past year as the "rebuild stage 1". Kovy could definitely come down if he actually wants to be on the Rangers, I'm sure some team would give him 7. Yeah Skjei could be anywhere between 5-6 mill. Colorado might want Namestnikov, I'm not sure which one I'd want more, Spooner or Vlady. Both have upside. Didn't really take into account Zadarov being a LHD. I was trying to find teams with a need to change things up and needed to improve their forward group and had decent D depth to make a trade with. Calgary, Edmonton, Carolina, LA also come to mind.

Rangers Deadline
I've seen Namestnikov mentioned as a return as well, also with Foote as a prospect. I don't know the Lightning's prospect pool well enough to make a guess on who we'd get but know that there has definitely been hype around McDonagh to Tampa so we'll see. I think Koekkoek has some nice upside and we could use the D to push out Kampfer and others (but first we need to push out AV).

McDonagh Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JT_Miller</b></div><div>Why is trading him a must. I know he's had a bad start to the season but that's very unlike him and I'm sure he will rebound soon. Plus moving him makes Skeji the top left D and although I think he is a great top 4 guy, Idk if he could handle being the top guy. Plus that move up Staal who isn't playing like trash this year in a more sheltered role.</div></div>
He hasn't been his usual self this season, but he is still generating points and chances and the rest will fall into place. The only argument for moving him is that he's going to be a free agent after next year and will also be 30 and probably want a long term deal. Given his age I think it's reasonable to try and move him for a good return next year and we've got some good D prospects in the system now. Will be tough to lose him but it might be best long term.
